I know there has been other threads like this but I thought it would be fun to start another and talk of things that have happened during a show that wasnt meant to happen. And make them funny too!! Please don`t yell at me anyone.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Hey. I've got one that happened to our production of West Side.

We had just finished the rumble and we were supposed to have a guy come up through the trap door. But as Action came across stage, the trap door opened and he fell through.

One of my friends in the tech crew has a scar...

This one isn't exactly funny but we had someone die during the overture of our Opening Night of WSS.

OMG that's crazy! I guess the music was too intense for them....wow. What happened after that?

I once saw a production of West Side Story when at the end, when Chino shoots Tony, the way the director had blocked the show the bullet would have to go THROUGH Maria to hit Tony as she was standing RIGHT between them. I laughed out loud -- good thing it was an open air theater and no one heard me over the crickets...

Someone was playing Eponine in Rent, and after she dies she plays one of the revolutionaries, and the had a huge bag of M&Ms in her pocket, and as she died a dramatic death over the barricade the M&Ms fell individually out of her pocket and spilled across the stage. I forget who it was, but I heard her tell the story on Seth's Broadway Chatterbox.

Thats pretty much it for my funny stories except for Gertrude's tail falling off during Amazing Gertrude. And the stone table breaking during Lion, Witch and Wardrobe.

Well she was singing about how long her tail was and it just fell of and she just kept going...

In Lion/Witch/Wardrobe they did a "Journey to the nest Scene" with MR. And MRS. Beaver narrating while walking around the theatre. The walk ended up being 20 Minutes!

The Christmas tree fell over during 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'. No reason. Just keeled over while the guy playing the Grinch stared.

Then there was the performance of 'The Sound of Music' where Rolf messed up the lyrics to "Sixteen Going on Seventeen"... The lyric where he states his age became "I am sixteen, going on seventeen, I'll take care of you." This would've been fine and dandy if Liesl's lyric in the next verse had not been "You are seventeen, going on eighteen."

I still cringe at that one.

i saw Into the Woods being done by a highschool and the guy who was playing the narrator was also playing the mystery man and as the narrator he wore glasses but not when he played the mystery man. but during on of the scenes in the first act he came onstage with them.

another one was from wicked, the beds didnt come out like they should have before Galinda sings popular to Elphaba. They did a lot of improvising before the beds came out. it made the show even better

1.) @ my highschool, we were doing WSS, and the gun didn't go off but coincidentally, our synthsizeist (?? the guy that was playing the synth) accidently brushed his hand against the keyboard and it sounded like this huge "BEEEYYYYYOOOOOOOUUUUUU' laser-gun UFO thing- wow did that ever kill the intensity!! lol

2.) at a local show i saw, (WSS) the mannequin wedding scene was taking place and when tony knelt down in front of marias 'father' to ask 'him' for her hand in marriage- the mannequins pants fell down- it was just so perfectly timed!!

3.) a touring cast of joseph was completely captivating me and they were doing the finale and joseph is singing "GIVE ME MY COLORED COAT" and everyones dancing and being great and one of the ensemble members comes out from the side of the stage with the coat and it gets caught on something- so she walks out and gets JERKED right back, and then she yanked it; COMPLETELY tore a hole in it, and joseph kinda looks at the mangled coat and starts cracking up and it was just ridiculously awesome

At Wicked (last Sunday)...

When Fiyero swung in on the rope to say the line about letting the green girl go... he had an unbalanced landing, actually fell over when his feet touched the ground, and yelled "OWW!". But then he got up and im a very Fiyero-like way and said, "I'm OK!! NOW let the the Green girl go". But no one could keep a strait face and they all cracked up for most of the rest of the scene. It didn't help that when Glinda throws Elphaba the hat..Sho missed it...so they were all laughing their heads off again.

It was pretty funny.

My school did Cabaret this spring and on opening night, the second to last scene was totally botched. The fur coat was still on the bed when Sally and Cliff were talking baout how she left her coat at the doctor's to pay for her abortion.

Whatever happened to class?

I saw Anything Goes at a highschool this spring, and during Heaven Hop (I forget the character who sings it), well her slip fell off. Luckily she was a great performer and she flipped it up from her feet and twirled it around and tossed it behind her into the chorus of men.

My school did Grease, asnd our opening night, Sonny jumped over someone as a dacne solo in Greased Lightnin'. He was great though. He shrugged in a goofy way that he used throughout the show before it hapened and nobody was sure if it was planned or not. Later on, during Danny solo stage crew brought out a set through the traveler Danny was right in front off. The crew kid ran back with the set. Really funny, cause Danny had no clue it hapened. Then during the final scene in the Burger shop, a table collapsed, and some1 said makeup is on the floo in the middle of the song. Good thing she wasnt miked!!!!!!!!!!!!

The next night, I exited the stage right before There Are Worse Things I could Do. I'd been sick all week, and my mic wasn't off for a min after i got off stage and every1 heard me have a coughing fit and take my asthma inhaler. lol.

this one happened during my high school's production of sorry wring number. i was playing the murderer and during the last performance this group of girls in the audience took a particular liking to me so when i came out and killed the old lady (it was rather graphic since the director didn't tell them to black out the stage for the death as planned we hear out of the audience "wwwwhhhhheeeeeeeeeeewwww show that bitch whos boss yeah!" so the very dead old lady started laughing, then trying to hold it in started convulsing on the bed

In Annie, I had a friend whose mic was dragging behind her when she walked on stage so she spoke into another person's mic-which was in her hair. SO at one time, she looked nuts, speaking into a wig.

this one is HORRIBLE -

A few years ago I was Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" and in the scene where Ralphie comes down the stairs in the bunny suit...well I had about 20 quick changes in that show and it just so happens that in that one, i put the BUNNY suit on BACKWARDS! The girl who was helping me change was like...NO waiiit!! And I had to go out...and Let's just say that the TAIL was in the FRONT...picture that...

And then one time during the sound of music, a kid felt sick in the audience, and just so happened to run out of the seating theatre, run up the side stairs and VOMIT RIGHT IN MY FREAKING DRESSING ROOM ALL OVER MY KURT COSTUMES!! AAAHHH! I had to wear that flowery costume the rest of the show, I didn't match...lol...
