I can hardly believe it!! I NEVER miss the Tonys! It has been a horrendously stressful year this year - so much going on in my personal and professional life that I have not even been to this Board in so long.
Do I dare ask? Was the broadcast worth watching this year? You'll have to forgive me, but I have not had the time to visit the Board and read all of the Tony threads, so I do not know all of the various opinions. I always tape the Tonys but obviously did not this year. Is it worth my trying to get a copy from someone? (I did hear that Cherry Jones won a Tony this year. How did she look?)
I am going through serious Broadway withdrawals. I was in NYC for the first time in forever last month and did not have enough time to see anything (very short visit to see a family member in town).
Sorry for the umpteenth Tony thread, but I was stunned when I discovered that I had missed the show! AHH!
I think it's DELIGHTFUL to see somebody around here who didn't talk about the awards for the 2 months leading up to them, then bitch about them for the week after them! There IS a real world, and ARF has come to visit from it!
So- First off, welcome back to the boards! Many say that the Tony's was not worth watching this year however, I disagree. They were not as good as some years past, but certainly worth watching. So yes, please do try and get a copy from someone. It would be a shame to miss. Cherry looked quite well, IMO. I think her dress was pretty...she had some interesting thread's started about her...(search)
So all and all, it was ok. Like I said I enjoyed it! You can find a complete list of winners at http://tonyawards.com or on this website I am sure.
And yes, I am doing quite well, welcome back once again!

Finding Namo - you are a hoot (as we oboists say - or is that a "toot"? ha ha)!
And I know! The real world, huh? And it's not a lame show on MTV either. And there aren't always happy endings, unfortunately. (I had a pretty sad "ending" recently, myself. Blah!) And life in the real world goes on...
alphieboy - thank you for the welcome back. And for the information.
Anyone have a copy (of the Tonys) they could send to this poor gal?
After two consecutive weekends of community theater festivals (in which friends acted and directed in wide variety of shows)and my own show which went through the whole festival adjudication process, I got home Sunday and just felt like doing nothing at all related to theater.
I thought it was worth watching just for the opening montage/20 second performances and the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels performance. Other highlights were the Light in the Piazza performance and Jerry Mitchell & Edaward Albee's acceptance speeches
