I miss Jason Robert Brown! After The Last Five Years and Parade I thought this would be the name I would see for a long time to come. An Urban Cowboy later and I have heard nothing of new plans. Anyone know anything about what is in JRB's future?
BSoBW2: I punched Sondheim in the face after I saw Wicked and said, "Why couldn't you write like that!?"
I'm right here! Actually, I'm in Los Angeles – I live here now because I teach at USC in the School of Theatre. I haven't really gone away, though; shows just take a long time to develop. I've got three new musicals in various stages of creation, and you'll likely hear more about them over the next couple of months. But in the meantime, my solo album, "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes," is being released on June 28th on Sh-K-Boom Records, and to celebrate, I'm doing two concerts in Los Angeles (June 10 and 11) and a week of concerts in New York (June 27-July 3). We're also setting up lots of concerts through the end of the year to help promote the album all over the country. Anyone who wants details should just send an e-mail to newyorkrock@mindspring.com and you'll be put on the mailing list. (If you have something other than an AOL address, we'll be much happier, but we can deal either way.) I look forward to seeing you at a concert this year!
(And please, for the record, the only beating in my first marriage was when my ex-wife beat me in checkers. She and I are both over it, everyone else should get over it too.)
I don't know about any rumors of him beating his wife, but I DO know that while he's not really around a LOT, he's still doing things from time to time. I believe that the cast of SFANW reunited in NYC at some point recently, and he was there.
In any case, last I heard, he was working on a musical called "13", and keeping with his love of quirky, yet consistent structure, it's rumored to have 13 songs, meant to be sung by a 13-year-old.
[EDIT] Or, you know, Jason Robert Brown could respond, rendering the meager information I have more or less meaningless. Updated On: 5/22/05 at 11:45 PM
RCL, most definitely that was Jason Robert Brown. And who thought he had gone away? I always hear about the things he's up to or working on next...and that huge benefit performance of "Songs for a New World" a few weeks ago was plastered all over this website, not to mention all "those others." Fortunately, it would seem he's not leaving musical theatre...although god knows the lure of LA might appeal to him. It'd be LA's gain.
If it's BS, then someone is giving out his email address without his knowledge. I'm on the mailing list, and that's definitely the email you send to in order to join.
carl magnum- im sorry but can u just shut up.. u get started with this freakin rediculous comment "God can people stop blowing smoke up the a$$ of this musical(parade). It flopped, it was a FLOP and for good reason. IT'S TERRIBLE. JRB needs to go away with all the jukebox musicals."
and now u have to do this... so what if it isnt him.... just shut up....

It's called an opinion CBK. and in my opinion, this has every possibility of being a phony posing as JRB. If it is I will laugh at you all. And if it isn't. I appologize if I offend you JRB but I'm just not a fan.
