What is the protocol for meeting the performers at the stage doors after a matinee (Wed. or Sat.)? Do a lot of them stop or do they just walk past? I've been told that a lot of them don't greet the fans. Have I been misinformed? I've never stopped at the stage door after a matinee so I have no idea.

It depends...A lot of people will not even leave after a mat. but if they do come out they usualy act the same as they would if it were a evening performence.

Well, they do have to rest for the evening performance (especially if they have a demanding role), so a lot of them don't come out. Or if they do, sometimes they go out a side entrance so they can go get lunch and then come back quickly.
But there are some who will greet the fans for a few minutes after the matinee performances. I guess it's just the luck of the draw depending on how they feel that day?

I was suprised when I saw CATS how many came out. This was a tour, though, and they had to get something to eat. On Bway, they probably have their own little refrige in their dressing room.

Pulling a double shift at work can be tiring. Some actors rest, others stroll a bit. Most just want some peace. Prepare to take your chances depending on who you're looking to meet.

LOL! A "fridge" in NY dressing rooms ? Maybe for Bernadette or Betty. Some leads feel lucky to have a private shower. I think we need to include Broadway dressing rooms on the Walkin Broadway tour!

Well if I was on Bway, I would put my own in the room.

You don't get your own dressing room, unless your the star. Usually it's just a room with two long tables on either side, a couple mirrors, and you sit at a mirror. In the green room, there is one refrigerator.

when I saw a matinee perfomance of 42nd street w/stevo last Feb, We waited outside the stage door. Only a few actors came out, but just when we were going to leave we were asked to go back stage. We got a full tour and met the cast members that were just hanging out. It was soo awesome!

It depends who the performer is. When Les Miz was still on Bway, lots of actors came out after matinees. That's just an example. But I know that some performers like Bernadette Peters and Sutton Foster don't come out between shows because they have demanding roles and all that jazz. So it depends on who it is really. =)

When I saw Gypsy this summer Bernadette Peters, Tammy Blanchard and John ?Dossett? all came out and signed things and took pictures. I got so close to Bernadette I could've mauled her...not that I would. (That was an evening performance though)
