What does everyone think of this method? Is it unhealthy? Does it help? etc.- I have heard both bad and good things, curious as to know what the voice afficionados(sp?) think

I've heard of him, but I'm not sure what his "method" is. What is it? Is he classical, musical theater, or what? The only singing method I really know of is the "Bel Canto" technique, but if you tell me more about Mr.Rigg's method, I can give you my input. :)

His technique focuses on bridging the gap between the voices with mixing, it is called speech level singing.

Hmm...

Well, honestly, his idea sounds very good, but I'd have to take a lesson or see him teach to really form an opinion. His style seems like it would benefit mostly pop singers, but musical theater as well. I'm always eerie on big names like his. I was taking with a guy just for who he trained and because he had a name, but he nearly destroyed my voice. Now, I'm training with this wonderful classical teacher who is pretty darn respected in the classical world and the best voice teacher I've ever had, but not necessarily as famous as these other people. However, I'd assume that Mr.Riggs wouldn't be bad. That's my 2 cents.

I have been studying this meathod for about 6 months now. I find it very helpful, however most of the Seth Riggs certified instructors recomend you ONLY use this technique. Which is possible, however this shows no versatility. Its great to learn, and use when needed, but you should also study other methods.

I've been using his method for my entire singing career. It is by far the best method I have heard of in terms of saving your voice. It is incredibly healthy.

I first went to Seth Riggs about 2 months before my first Broadway audition. I had never sung a note in my life but knew that I was right for one of the roles in this upcoming show.

In that time he got me to a point that I booked the show from an open call. A few years later when I returned to Los Angeles I went back to him and actually learned how to SING, and not just get through a song.

His "speech level singing" technique works for every sort of music from Opera to Rock to Broadway. His first two celebrity clients were Carol Burnett and Stevie Wonder... from these two came just about EVERYBODY else.

To this day, when I am called upon to do a musical, I always go to him for a few classes just to learn exactly how to place the songs in my voice so that I can do extended runs without huring myself.

When I started with Seth he was $35. a half hour... The last time I checked in with him he was up to $100 a half hour .... and he might be more since it has been a while.
