I love this board. There's alot of good passionate discussion about broadway . But unfortunately there's a few people here that are writing fabrications just to create discussion. I have noticed a few postings by a CJR claiming that Antonio Banderas will be joining Melanie Griffith in the Los Angeles leg of the touring company of CHICAGO. I didn't pay much attention since CJR's postings have included alot of inacurracies in the past as well as a redundant insistence on slamming Ms Griffiths performance . But she brought up the Antonio thing again today and it just irked me. I work for Todd A-O and I can assure you all that Antonio will be very busy this coming year with Zorro 2. Anyway; I am sure she will go on some tirade about this. But I don't care. I just wanted to put it out there . The internet and these message boards are a very powerful thing. It is one thing to have a opinion and be passionate about something. But to go on hate tirades ( the Melanie thing ) as well as stating total fabrications is another. Updated On: 10/9/03 at 06:00 PM

Are you sure?

She can't be wrong. She runs the official Roxanne Carrasco website.

First of all, in CJR's defense, she was not the first one to mention Antonio in CHICAGO, she only stated that she had heard that rumor, too. It was NOT stated as a fact.

Secondly, these boards are for expressing opinions, which is exactly what our darling CJR was doing. You can not sue someone for their opinion!

Lay off of her, she is a vital part of this board wheather or not you agree with her.

PEACE.

Are you sure that this person is reporting this as fact and not as a joke? After all this is a chat board and nothing on here can be taken as total truth.

This is very interesting. I also work in Post and when I first read CJR's original post about this I asked her where she was getting her information since I knew alot of people that were going to be working on Zorro during the time this tour is in Los Angeles. She never answered. But you know... I didn't know if she is lying or if she is just a over eager Chicago fan who heard this from some innacurate gossip source. And as for her unrelenting slamming of Melanie Griffith.... It is obvious that CJR loves Chicago . Her slamming became repetitive and mean spirited. But anyway; back to the point.... Antonio will be doing Zorro 2. All you have to do is open a issue of Variety ( I think film production schedules come out on Tuesdays) or call his pres rep if you are in doubt and really have to know. during the week of Sept 21 when i was in NYC, there was gossip all over the Theatre District about this possibility (Antonio and Melanie together in CHICAGO in LA). Several people i met brought it up spontaneously, almost at the mention of either of the stars names, their shows, or sometimes in a random conversation about film stars (like Graham and Jackman) doing live theater. So pinpointing a "source" would be difficult. And as to the producers wanting to sue any one theorizing about a rumor...remember, there is no such thing as "bad publicity." If LA ticket sales spiked a bit because Antonio MIGHT be in the show, what do they care? and if the media chooses to report on the rumor and then have to verify its untruth, that's just a little less publicity the Weisslers have to buy.

Hey Txtwostep,
I agree with you 100 %. But remember... she stated this as FACT not opinion on this board. If you go back and read her old postings you will see this. You know... I am sure she read it on some paper or heard it from someone and took it as fact. - This is pretty funny. Everyone in my office is standing around my computer now following this drama. -

Robactor guy,
I LOVE YOUR CHITA SITE! I was fortunate enough to see her play Velma in Chicago twice during the original run and then play Roxie in Las Vegas. I have tried to see her in everything she has done ( even CAN-CAN). Had to miss Nine. Just to busy to get to NY.

No tirades. I'm saying this and that's it. You either like it or you don't and if you DON'T like what I have to say, tough ****.

I only know what I'm told. And I had posted that I heard the Antonio "rumor" and then I heard he signed. I see now, it wasn't true, but like I said, I was only going on what I was told. No normal person "blows up their source" online so I wasn't going to. Don't shoot the messenger.

Oh and theaternut, as for why you never received a response for me, (and RobD can vouch for my absence from the board because of this) I was too busy planning my father's funeral. He died of stage 4 Cancer 9 months after his diagnosis. Sorry if you think your wanting an answer to your question was more important and I shouldn't have put it on the back burner, but I had better (however unplesant) things to do.

And Post Production -- this is the first inaccuracy I have ever posted here when it comes to Chicago, fyi. If you're going to say something, get your facts straight....

But she brought up the Antonio thing again today and it just irked me.
Um WHERE did I bring this up today? Because I posted no such thing today and I think I would remember.

also...

I hope someone in the company cares enough to find out who she really is and sues the hell out of her.
Ummm do you NOT pay a lot of attention on this board? Everyone in the company already KNOWS who I am... and nobody's gonna sue me either. Sorry to disappoint you.

As for me not liking Melanie... *sigh* it doesn't even matter anymore as her run is over. Anyone who knows me knows I'm highly opinionated. Sorry that I think there should be STANDARDS such as being able to dance and sing when you're in a Fosse Show... god forbid re: re: re: re: Antonio in CHICAGO is a LIE!

And I never went on "hate tirades about her". I had very strong feelings and opinions about her PERFORMANCE, but she is a very lovely woman. There was a lot of joking amongst the other members that if something ever happened to Melanie I'd better have a good alabi. But it was just that... JOKING. I would never do anything to someone just cause I don't like their performance or find them untalented.

Suleen -- thank you. I appreciate your post.

~Heather

Leave CJR alone. In her defense, she is a good participant to the board and avid lover of Chicago. So what? She stated it was a rumor and there is no reason to come down so hard on her. If she did not ike Melanie it was because she seen Chicago many times with talented performers. Melanie was not qualified at all to play that part. I saw her also in Chicago. Where do you get off treating her like that anyway Post Production? Read the guidelines of board about the postings and how to act for e.g. no personal attacks.

You know CJR,
I am sorry about your dad. That's a horrible thing. Don't hold that against me. Am I suppose to know your father is dying of cancer? But it is so weird...if you look back at other posts.. you had no trouble answering other things on the same date and after. Hmmmmm. Very weird. .. Very weird. As far as the Antonio thing.... hon; you did state it as fact. LOOK AT YOUR POSTS. And I mean go way back. ( unless of course you are now hitting that little edit button) You even lashed out when someone corrected you.Anyway; love that you love Chicago. It is my favorite show. And I LOVE ROXANNE CARRASCO. Would love to see her in West Side Story. Updated On: 10/7/03 at 07:17 PM

re-read my post. *I* was told it was a fact. *I* was going on what I was told. and I'm saying I was (well they were, and then I was for posting it) wrong. Don't shoot me.

The point of not having the time to answer things was that I didn't sit here combing the message board looking at threads which I had responded to. I glanced through things and answered a few when I had a chance. If a post dropped off the board and onto the next page by the time I got to it, that's not my fault or my problem.

ps -- glad to hear you "love roxane carrasco" but I loooove how you went and edited it from "you've lost all credibility here" to how you love her.

Yes I did edit that out almost immediately. My co-worker here pointed out that I was crossing that line into personal attack ( maybe I already did but I didn't mean to) and I didn't and don't want to do that. And I really do Love Roxanne Carrasco. I saw her in a Chorus line and I even think I have a video of her somewhere from when she sang "What I did for Love" on Phil Donahue years ago.

Firstly, with regards to Heather / CJR, I will vouch for her as a friend, as a contributor to this site, and as one of the very nicest people I’ve met via running this web site.

Second – what’s quickly becoming one of my largest pet peeves, ‘theaternut’ and ‘Post Production’ are one and the same person. Why they chose this silly route of posting doubly, I do not know. What I do know, is that they’re now gone from the site.

Crankily,

Rob

Wait a minute, there's going to be a Zorro 2? WHY? Did anybody not trapped watching it on an airplane actually pay money to see the first one? Cripes. I remember when they only made sequels to successful movies.

I'm quite sure CJR would never knowingly report an "inaccuracy". As already mentioned, she has every right to post her opinions of an actress' performance. Given her knowledge of this particular show and the fact she has friends who work in it, it would be counterproductive for her to initiate or exaggerate rumors about it.

AAAARRRRGHHHH!!! I went and had a wonderful evening with friends but in the back of my mind was this fricking thread. How vulnerable are we to personal attacks on this board. It just shows to go ya that you can't take anything too seriously here.
It ain't brain surgery, it's only show biz.

PEACE.

Hahahaha it was in the back of your mind too, Sueleen? lmao I was shooting darts (I play on a dart league for the bar where I work) and all I kept thinking about was the mess I was gonna come home to Hahahaa

Thanks to all who said something in my defense and to Rob for taking action re: re: Antonio in CHICAGO is a LIE!

Though I must say, even though theaternut and post production turned out to be the same person (which almost doesn't surprise me), I wish I had been able to read that now edited reply. I heard something about him/her disecting my post line for line and calling me a bitch.... Dammit, I could have used a good laugh! lmao

Just when the thread start to calm down I come along to stir the...paint. I bet it was Melanie that posted. Anyone else thinks it was Melanie? Just look at the ID names. Post Production - Amen to that, and Theater*NUT*. Hello! And the timing...

And speaking of rumors, during the BCEFA flea market I heard more things about some people's personal lives than I ever cared to hear. People I didn't know - total strangers. Many a rumor was flying, many a dish was served.

CJR, sorry to hear of your loss.

Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

So THIS is the tread everyone was talking about--I don't care for Antonio so I didn't read it last night.

I could have told you that wasn't TheaterNut--Mr. T wouldn't have posted like that--at least not the Mr. T I knew on Broadway.com.

CJR--I'm very sorry for your loss. My father passed from lung cancer. I don't know if you can consider yourself lucky or not. We were told my dad would live 6 months, it was 3 years. In that time, I watched a proud, wonderful man waste away slowly and very painfully. At the end, I didn't know what to wish/hope for.

Well thank goodness for Rob. I don't know why some people feel they need split personalities to get their point across. Ain’t that right?
Right, D. I agree with you 100% Who was THAT??

Can I just chime in and say one thing? Message boards do NOT have this enormous "power" that you all think they have. NO ONE IN THE REAL *BUSINESS* OF ENTERTAINMENT CARES WHAT'S BEING SAID AT B'WAYWORLD.COM! Stop flattering yourselves SO unabashedly and erroneously. Once again, PERSPECTIVE, people!
