If you're interested and have the time... an excellent editorial (IMO) by Gore Vidal on the State of the Union.

CurtainUp - thanks for the link. Gore can sometimes go completely over the edge, which is certainly part of his charm. This particular article was a little difficult, only because it points out so clearly that warning signs have been present for quite some time, and we have done nothing about it. God knows, though, he can make me chuckle re: EXCELLENT EDITORIAL BY GORE VIDAL

umm... well maybe you do, but some might not.

No, I didn't forget it. I didn't list the play, screenplays, or his many collections of essays.
But thanks. It's definitely worth mentioning.
And every bit as pertinent today as the day it was written!

Always good to have a reminder of Gore's contributions re: EXCELLENT EDITORIAL BY GORE VIDAL One of my favorites is still the screenplay to BEN HUR, which he gives some hysterical commentary on in the documentary The Celluloid Closet.

I agree DGrant. Especially his comments re Charlton Heston not being aware that the character he was playing was written as gay. re: EXCELLENT EDITORIAL BY GORE VIDAL

Hyperbolicious, as usual...
You forgot my favorite Vidal novel, the brilliant, totally unique JULIAN.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing. ~ Muhammad Ali
