Don’t know if anyone saw the piece on her in Sundays Parade magazine. I don't see any reference to it here on the board--maybe I missed it? I don’t know how to do a link to it (even if there is one??) or I’d post it–Rob? Help, please?

Thanks,

D

I saw her in concert with Andrea Bocelli a few years back. What a show!!!!!!!!!!

The article mentioned that she is going to do a tour but no dates/places. If she comes my way, I do plan on trying to go see her.

Interesting comment from her former colleague ( they did a tour together of ALW music .. and have appeared on some other events), Michael Ball --

"I'm glad for her that she has finally found her voice" ( her musical niche)

Sarah was once a member of a pop/rock band, recorded early English folk songs, did musical theatre ( Cats, Phantom, Aspects, etc), sang some light opera or operatic songs and is now more associated with more contemporary music.

I so envy her hair. I wish mine would grow that long.

I'll keep an eye out for that special on PBS.

I'm mad at her. I can't believe she divorced Webber after he wrote probably his greatest work for her. I hope that doesn't happen to Eder and Wildhorn.

I wonder why the divorce. Unless he was horribly moody as some artists can be.

I've read a biography of him, and the author (I don't know who he is) said that he likes to be in charge. That's what happened with Tim Rice. They both wanted to be in charge, and neither wanted to give in. Webber also rejected Rice's lyrics for Memory and went with Trevor Nunn. So, maybe it was Sarah just using him, or maybe it was Andrew being a grumpy control freak. You'll have to ask them, I don't know. I also remember something about him having an affair. Maybe that was with Sarah. I don't remember.

She had to sign a contract that she wouldn't discuss anything abouot their marriage before ALW would agree to a divorce. This fueled rumors that Lord Andy is gay.

Funny, I heard that HE dumped her & she was as surprised as everyone else! Supposedly he'd met the VERY young woman he is now married to who came from a very prominent County family & it was his chance to finally more into that social set. Can't speak as to his orientation but he had a new family with his bride ASAP (also had kids from prev marriage before Brightman) Also- am I the only one who hears Alan Sherman's song "Sarah Jackman" every time I see her name?( How's by you?)

What I heard at that time was that he was very surprised when Sarah wanted to get out of the marriage. There were some rumours then that she might have wanted to get back to her former boyfriend. But, it looks like that it was quite amicable eventually, as they have even worked on some projects together and he has been supportive of her ( In one of her post-ALW concerts, Andrew even appeared towards the end and accompanied her on the piano as she sang).

Sondheimfreak-
"I can't believe she divorced Webber after he wrote probably his greatest work for her."

I don't want to insult you, but that comment was ridiculous! If there is no love, there is no point in staying together! Even though I don't know you, I expect more!
Dollypop-
I agree about ALW being a big nelly. He's about as straight as you and I making babies at the Gaiety! (With Voiceanth and BWayguy to watch of course!)

To everyone-
Funny side note, whenever she used to sing "Think of Me" I thought she sang "Snort and think of me" instead of "Stop and think of me."

Well, Copeman63, there must have been SOME love there or they wouldn't have married. But then that just goes back to the roots of this post. Did she marry him to further her career? We'll never find out because she's not allowed to talk about it.

I remember a song she did on an album from the short-lived london musical about actress Jean Seberg. I believe it was called "Dreamers". It is quite good & would loved to have heard the rest of the score. Hamlisch has had hard luck & the critics have been none to kind to him after "A Chorus Line". He did "Smile" (songs I have heard from it are good), the much maligned "Sweet Smell of Success" , "The Goodbye Girl (deserved a better fate) & "Jean Seberg" . It may be awhile before he tries Broadway again as he may naturally be a bit gunshy. Critics love to bring someone down a peg after they have a hit. It is the critics way of keeping someone in check. Who keeps them in check, however?

The BEST song Sarah Brightman does is "Question of Honor"-- I could listen to that over and over and over again.

BUT I am suprised to hear that some did not Harem. I thought it was an amazing cd. I also love her version of "The Journey Home" from "Bombay Dreams"

JR,

I've said I have and like most of "Harem" several times but her best all time song is "Half A Moment" from "The Songs That Got Away".

When I was going to auditions, way back when, I overheard some of the casting people talking about how sick they were of hearing songs from POTO, Cats and Le Miz.

I decided to try to find something different and fell in love with “Half A Moment”. I looked for the music everywhere but it was no where to be found. I finely wrote “The Really Useful Music Group” and asked if I could get a copy from them and would it be alright if I used the song at my auditions. To my surprise, they let me buy the music a very reasonable price and granted me the permission to use it as well.

What I got wasn’t even a “printed” sheet like you get at the store. It was a copy of the handwritten music, just as ALW had penned it. I was thrilled. I just knew no one would have that same song the next time I auditioned.

That is really cool! But Webber should visit www.codamusic.com. It makes music notation so much easier than hand-writing it.

From Forbidden Broadway....

Sung by a Sarah lookalike.

Time I said goodbye,
My welcome is wearing thin,
I best turn my union card in
I've had a terrible
Time with keys too high
You'll suffer when I do trills
You'll all get the wrong kind of chills....

When Phantom first opened in NY Sarah and ALW were living in Trump Tower and she was having an affair right under his nose. He reportedly knew all about it but so wildly in love with her he turned a blind eye.
