theatrical release?

I like the Disney version a heck of a lot more.
Audra, Victor, Kathy, Alan, Kristin..... N Y C - with Andrea McArdle as Star To Be.

LOVE it! And my lil' gal Alicia was wonderful as ANNIE, even Andrea bowed before her, haha.

Burnett is a disgrace in the first film - Kathy Bates is wonderful.

The first film is a bonafide nightmare, there are moments scarier than anything in The Exorcist-The Beginning!

Are you serious? I HATED the Disney TV MOW. The theatrical release was no prize, but the ABC version...eesh. No heart at all. Yes the cast was great, but the production itself left me cold.

given the two, Disney is hands down -- the film was painful -- especailly the "added" chase scene and little 'ol Annie climbs the bridge or some tower...ugh!

Oh yeah, I hate those parts too, KMF - gave the film a completely unnecessary "dark" feel.

I actually loved the Disney production, maybe it's because I had such a personal connection to it, but I really liked it.

Hopefully we agree on the horror of the crazed mugging that takes place in the Huston version reaches insane levels!

And that some of the "lil orphans" look about 30!

A bit of trivia, a number of reels of the film's ending were stolen, forcing the producers to scramble and really "fudge" the final chase, if you look closely several of the little girls have "aged" a bit as they were brought back to refilm some scenes..

The theatrical version of the 80s was AWFUL!

The Disney version was by FAR superior -- the cast was flawless to me.. Alicia Morton was perfection, Kathy Bates was a standout and what can you say about the glorious Audra? Andrea was ispired casting for that cameo... obvious.. but perfection...

LOVE the Disney! It's how I fell for Alan after all. re: ANNIE - Disney or And I was a Kristen fan way back then...not as much these days. It's always when hype builds that I get bored. ANYWAY, I like the '82 movie ok, but Tim Curry scared me more as Rooster than he did as Pennywise. I refused to watch him in anything for years b/c that bridge chase scared me so much as a kid.

I hated the original movie. Im still confused about he guy in the turban who hypnotizes people. I did like Tim Curry and Bernadette though.
The Disney version, while not the best movie ever, had an amazing cast. Victor Garber, Kristin, Alan and AUDRA!
