I like Hairspray'sset.. it perfectly embodies the concept of the show.. looking at the world throught the eyes of a teenaged girl with big dreams in 1962....

Metamorphoses had a great set.

RENT has the perfect set for that show.

Take Me Out had a great set, as well.

I haven't seen a whole lot of Broadway.

I thought the set of DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES was great! It was larger than life! Anything by David Gallo is wonderful. Now I'm a WICKED fan but, I don't think it's set is all that great. I think there is sooooo much set incorperated into the auditorium that sometimes there isnt enough onstage. I don't know, I think it's just me lol. It seems so busy in spots and so empty in others.

I love the sets for Wicked as well.

I agree w/ you re: Wicked. I really enjoyed the show, but in some areas, there was way too much going on- definitely not designed w/ human factors in mind.

I loved the Les Miz set.

I love Hairspray's sets! Full of color. I love the fact that Wicked's sets bring you into the story, like you are on stage with them.

Ugh, Into the Woods revival was awful.

Sorry if anyone is offended but I was pretty bored.

The Witch's transformation was cool and Milky White stole the show.

I liked the set for Proof...I saw it on the Tony awards back when it won the award, and I've seen pics on websites. Very real...and yet very simple.

I'm not a big fan of huge sets, I think shows should focus more on the acting and the characters instead of the setting. But that's just my own opinion.

I loved the sets at Wicked.

The only thing I liked about the Wicked set was the clock backcurtain thing, and how the doors opened. But the actual set pieces were too much like a clock. I think it was overkill.

I am an actor, but I also love production design, so I like the small simple sets AND the big, elaborate sets.. ya need a mix..some shows need one, some need the other...or if you are RAGTIME..BOTH

The DOTV sets were unbelievable. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Dance of the Vampires I think
-I would have to say Ave Q. Basic but for me it makes it more of an intimate show.

What can I say? If it works, I'm a sucker for huge, elaborate sets.

EDIT: Yes, DOTV stands for Dance of the Vampires. Updated On: 8/14/04 at 04:11 PM

"Sunset Boulevard" - that mansion alone along with everything else - incredible!! - Why is the show not a part of the RandH collection of Andrew Lloyd Webber?
"Hairspray" - perfect for the time and style of the show
"Deathtrap" - all the murder weapons on the walls
