Bad news for fans of Flower Drum Song.

'Flower Drum' Replaced in O.C. - Los Angeles Times

I don't know what "O.C." means. I saw Flower Drum Song when it played in NYC a while ago. I thought it was very entertaining but it was pretty much ignored by the Tony Awards. The performances were excellent and the sets were beautiful (of course, the music is outstanding). What do people want anyway?

When they say that a theatre will mount it's own performance, does that mean they will start from scrap or pay to have the tour come to their theatre?

How stupid of me, I just clicked on your link and read the article. Forget I asked what it meant. Thanks

I actually had a hankering to see FDS before it closed. But there are so many shows on my To See List that I haven't gotten to yet. Too bad it didn't run longer. The score is good, but I think it didn't click w/ the general public and tourists because it wasn't a very "touristy" type of show unlike Phantom, The Producers, and of course...those family friendly Disney shows. I also think Gypsy will be a big tourist attention getter w/ BP starring. Everyone knows who she is.

I never got why it was going back to LA to begin with... Sure, it did well there, but it already played there for a very long time!
