I was looking through some old sfuff I have, and I came across a brochure for several cruise lines/shoips that I got last year and I noticed that one ship was offering a production of 'Grease!' and another was offering 'Guys and Dolls'. Now, in 20-25 years what shows do you think they will be hacking to pieces on cruise ships?? I don't mean that in a bad way. Many cruises have great shows with great perfromers. Tina Maddigan and Adam Fleming both worked on cruise lines doing shows before Broadway beckoned. Others, though, well....

I can picture Disney trying it with 'Beauty' and 'Lion'. Hairspray and Mamma Mia have a light hearted appeal that would fit ona ship what with the vacatiners and all. And wouldn't Mamma Mia fit being playing on a ship with it's beachy-ness and all.

Thoroughly Mod Millie would adapt well to this format.

I doubt we'll see Broadway's B&B, Aida or LK on their ships. They have their own shows and most of them are fantastic. Their Hercules show is one of the best shows I've seen.

Ignorance is temporary. Stupidity last forever. Watch out BWW... HE'S BACK.

How bout small shows with small casts, Like "Forever Plaid" "I love you you're pefrect..." etc.

small intimate stuff on cruise lines. It should be short, and to the point. People on the cruise lines arent necessarily theatre people and want it quick and painless. when i went to see Chicago in Vegas i noticed that half way thru the show the audience was moving around and squirming. I also noticed that alot of people left during the intermission, either thinking it was over, or not wanting to stay another hour. it sucks but unforutnately the cruise would cater to the needs of the guests.

The Last Five Years is cheap and intimate. I can see that being done.

yes, intimate shows like that would be the best bet.

or even shows that have 2-10 people with razzle dazzle numbers and ditty's, unfortunately shows like Falsettos and New Brain wouldn't tide too well on a cruise since the main topic is homosexuality. But shows like that.

as far as Beauty, and Lion King, I mean scaled down versions.

o i c, like the shows they have at disneyland or even onthe cruises now??

I've seen Aladdin at CA Disney, and it's fun, and they even added a new song for Jasmin, "To Be Free" which should actually be sung by the Genie since it's to the Tune of "To Be Free" from the movie when Genie's talking about what he would do if he was. Anyhow, it could be done but why?

Disney owns- Disney keeps. They will not run on another cruise co. Maybe their own line but then why a shorttened version?
