Does anyone know the specific theatres that The Act tried out in? I know that it tried out in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, but can anyone tell me at which theatres? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I saw tge show several times during its Broadway run, but am having a rough time remembering its try-out theaters. I have a vague recollection of the poster hanging backstage at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
I saw THE ACT when it was out of town in San Francisco. It was then called SHINE IT ON. But what theatre??? I'm not good at remembering that stuff. I know that it was a very big theatre on Market Street -- The Orpheum?
"You got the same dress I got?" "Yes.""You got the same wig I got?" "Yes." THEN SHUT UP!
Was it the Curran? Because the Orpheum at that time was part of the Civic Light Opera, but that might make sense since the show also played LA subsequent to its San Francisco run. No! Wait. This is from the Orpheum Theatre History page, "Civic Light Opera producers Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin would fill the stage in the next few years with such superstars as Lena Horne, LIZA MINNELLI, Jackie Gleason and Debbie Reynolds." Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin were the producers of The Act. Does anyone know what theatre the Civic Light Opera occupied in LA? Updated On: 3/14/04 at 02:39 PM
