New stars revive Broadway by RICHARD OUZOUNIAN

In this city, you have to keep reinventing yourself. That's why long-running shows and cross-over artists achieve a symbiotic relationship that's almost irresistible.

Is Chicago finding its audiences starting to droop? Bring in a movie star like Melanie Griffith. Has Thoroughly Modern Millie lost some of its lustre? Make things shiny again with a pair of Designing Women from television like Delta Burke and Dixie Carter.

That's how it goes. Ring in the new, but if that doesn't work, then bring back the old.

New stars do help to revive some shows. I believe Deborah Cox will do great things for Aida. She is already selling out seats every night with her wonderful personality and her incredible voice. If you are not familiar with her talents visit her site at www.deborahcox.com
