I don’t think it’s Tony’s impact rather than it’s tourist season and it’s a big tourist show."
That was exactly my thought. I think it's the summer travel season and many people are finally feeling comfortable to travel again. Frankly, it feels like the Tony's are having less and less impact every year.

They can't. Even the cancellation of the unannounced show at the Schoenfeld isn't greenlighting an extension of Come From Away."
I find it interesting that with nothing coming into the Schoenfeld that CFA isn't extending until the end of the year."
Seems odd to kick a show out that's doing pretty decent. The Schoenfeld is booked through next spring but productions haven’t announced yet. They have a limited holiday run and then another play in spring"

I mean, to keep with the spirit of the cast, who could possibly worm their way into what are otherwise very distinctive roles?
I could see Tituss Burgess or Billy Porter stepping in for a bit as Thought 2 or 4. Alex Newell, MJ Rodriguez or Raven-Symone (non-binary) as Thought 1. Jeremy Pope or Todrick Hall as Thought 3 (though I personally would stop going for the latter)

Other than Billy Porter, will any of the others really sell many tickets?
Let’s be real…no celebrity will ever step in to take over as one of the Thoughts. It’d be hard enough to stunt cast Usher. Just the way replacement casting works.

Raven could probably sell a decent amount of tickets to an audience of a certain age.

It's not. The show that was the reason for ousting Come From Away fell through and isn't happening. So as of now it's dark. They won't even confirm with the staff when the next show is coming (Life of Pi in the Spring is the rumor, but no one knows where that rumor came from).

LIFE OF PI has been cancelled at the Schoenfeld?"
It hasn't even been confirmed for a transfer. But no, that was always going to be a spring show.
The show replacing CFA was unannounced, and the only info that was being given to anyone was that it would be a star vehicle. A little over a week ago the house staff was informed that this replacement show had fallen through, and there is no information about the next show (and that Life of Pi is still just a rumor). Supposedly CFA cannot extend, but there was no real reason given other than a vague response about contracts.

Although stranger things have happened (Sting jumping to save THE LAST SHIP, anyone?), I agreed this is a much harder task at hand."
But The Last Ship was HIS show, HIS music, HIS story growing up. He wasn't some random celebrity choice who they thought would sell tickets. It was a pretty unique situation.
Most of the dream casting on this board is 100% driven by who someone would like to see or thinks would be really good in a role. Almost never do people consider "but what would this do for the actor's career?" Is it a logical next role that would make sense from a career trajectory standpoint. Most times the answer is no.

It should hit $ 100 million in Gross Receipts after the end of this coming week - it will need only $ 2.638 Million to do that.. Then there will be a one-week break ( they are not selling tickets as of now) when Hugh Jackman presumably takes his break."
Has any production after the Bway reopening publicly stated it recouped its investment?

The CFA producers have been trying to extend the show(likely until the end of the year). Very bizarre due to "contracts" that they're being prohibited.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Only The Kite Runner and Mr. Saturday Night sold less tickets (not gross dollars, the number of people actually buying a ticket) than A Strange Loop. Even Chicago sold more tix than Loop.

In retrospect, they probably would have been better off re-opening in a larger off-Broadway house. But some people did get their Tony’s for doing absolutely nothing but investing in the show.

The unannounced show for the Schoenfeld has not been canceled...
Was going to say that’s just bad business. Why not let a show extend and pay it’s rent if another shows cancels? So I’m assuming said production is still a go, yet you’d think we’d have heard something about it by now.

I'd highly doubt that we'll get a notice of if Music Man recouped given the track record of previous productions tied to Scott Rudin and Barry Diller. We were asking the same questions of Hello, Dolly back in the day and we didn't get that answer til it closed. If anything, when they announce their final performance date, it may include if/when it recouped.

Sorry for the error - it should be 247 performances, not 357!
