Do we know if Rob will still be in it in September when Lena joins or is the new Seymour for then yet to be announced?

Blanchard gave a near-brilliant performance that Lena Hall will definitely not replicate, and I look fwd to seeing what she comes up with. great news.

Oh mannnnnnnn the cash I would drop to see Rebecca Naomi Jones as Audrey! Please let's manifest this!

Finally got to see this production for the first time today. All around pretty much a perfect production. Rob McClure was as perfect as I’d hoped. I went in with an open mind on Tammy Blanchard, having read some of the thoughts on here, and wow…she broke my heart from the start. I thought it was a devastatingly beautiful performance and I’m so glad I saw her before she leaves the production.

^Re: will Rob leave when Lena joins…he just started? I highly doubt he would leave so soon. His show contracts usually last a while! :)

I am totally convinced that I need to see this production.

The announcement article I read worded it as Lena Hall joining Rob McClure. I don’t imagine he is leaving yet.

Rob just got there and from his social media he seems thrilled about it. I don't think he's going anywhere for a while. Of course Christian Borle will be leaving some time this fall to start rehearsals for Some Like It Hot. I would imagine Rob will stay until he's able to line up another Broadway project and he, like Borle, is an established Broadway star so i would think they are thrilled to have him.

Christian Borle's last performance is August 28th.

I first saw the revival with Jonathan Groff and Tammy Blanchard.  Everything was outstanding about the entire production.  Well, except Tammy.  Not that Tammy isn't a fine actor.  I know some on here have praised Tammy's acting "choices", but is that really why you go to see Little Shop?  NO.  We want someone who can really sing "Suddenly Seymour" like Ellen Greene could.  Do we expect anyone to replace Ellen?  Of course not.  But the song is a classic and deserves to be belted out.  Why on Earth would you hire someone who can't sing it?

Well, I am excited now to be going back to see Lena Hall who is finally taken over the role.  Finally we will be able to hear the songs the way they were meant to be sung.  And seeing Rob McClure now as Seymour will be great too.

I am surprised Lena isn't getting more press.  I realize most people get more excited with the casting of Seymour, but the role of Audrey is the one who really makes the play.  And I have a feeling Lena Hall will take what is already an outstanding revival and put it over the top.

I’m really on the fence about seeing this. I have one spot left for the my trip at the end of the month and am deciding between this and Cost of Living. I know they are completely different but still struggling. Already scheduled to see ITW, Moulin Rouge, Strange Loop, Six, Death of a Salesman and The Piano Lesson.

I saw it in July with Borle & understudies in the other roles.  It is fine.  The puppetry is well done.  I think there are better shows to see. I don't know anything about Cost of Living.

Obviously you have already considered all the other shows.

But if it were me, & I hadn't yet seen Music Man, I would try to see that.  It was worth it.  Ignore the naysayers who poopoo Jackman.

I notice Funny Girl also isn't on your list.  I'd recommend Music Man over it just based on the productions quality;  but, seeing Lea Michele might be intriguing.

If neither of those interest you, 1776 is the first musical of the season opening mid-month.

I hate to say it, but I found Derek Klena to be just awful in Moulin Rouge.  His acting can't match Aaron Tveit; moments that Tveit made magic just fell flat with Klena.  If you haven't seen Tveit maybe you won't notice. Ashley Loren is excellent though, and the production remains amazing.

Have a good trip.  Be thankful you won't have the 40°C weather that the end of July brought.  NYC though is built to handle the heat better than Vancouver.

No. I attend theater to be intellectually and emotionally provoked and surprised. Tammy's "choices" do that.

How interesting Mayer has two shows with new casts going in on the same date. Those Associates are really earning their keep in times like this!

Okay, but real question here… how is the roof going to stay on that little theatre with Lena Hall belting the hell out her songs? I can’t wait!

I love that everyone goes crazy about ages over Gypsy or Funny Girl,  but here no one cares.  Just interesting.

I was lucky enough to see Lena Hall's opening performance tonight and she was great.  Finally, we get an Audrey who is likable and has great chemistry with Seymour.  Gone are the days of drunken Audrey.  And for that I am thankful.  While I was expecting Lena to take the roof off the house, she sang beautifully and gave great renditions of the classic songs.  Her acting was superb too.  I am not sure how much practice she has had with Rob, but I expect them to take it up a notch once they get a few more repetitions.  But she is brilliant.

Rob by the way was excellent too.  But that isn't surprising as I have also seen him in Beetlejuice and Doubtfire too.  In many ways, Rob was made for the role of Seymour.

Overall cast and production were excellent.  I also love the fact this is a small theater.  Go see this if you get a chance,  You won't be disappointed!!

Bryce Pinkham!! very interesting casting!! I wouldn’t have thought of him for this role/track, but I think it’ll be good. He’s a very different sort of comic actor from Borle, but he can be extremely funny when he wants to be.

I’m a little bit “over” Brad Oscar and his schtick, but this is a good role for him.

Are you referring to Lena Hall's age?

Is there indication of Audrey's age in the libretto that leads you to believe that Lena Hall shouldn't be playing this role?

Rob McClurs, Lena Hall, Brad Oscar, and Bryce Pinkham is a killer leading quartet. I’ll definitely check out that combo.

Wow, yeah, I need to see Rebecca Naomi Jones do this role now. She would make so much sense, but be completely different.

This is jackpot casting. Like, you have four leads with a combined six Tony nods and a win. I have to get my butt back there NOW
