Perhaps they're requiring employees at the venues to get tested?

The Bloomington stop was NEVER listed on The Prom's website, from the very first day the tour schedule was posted - it's supposed to be during the two-week gap that currently shows up between Madison and Minneapolis. But Bloomington is actively selling tickets to it and there is no indication that it's been cancelled. Time will tell. The stop isn't until late March so maybe they're pulling a "wait and see."

Has anyone here seen the tour yet? Would love to know if anything's been changed since Broadway and how the cast is?

New article today, looks like the AEA requirements couldn't be met for local crew/staff members en-residence at the Abilene. Looks like their only other shows are An Officer and a Gentleman, South Pacific, and Waitress which are all non-eq so I assume they won't have any issues going forward.

Can someone speak, by any chance, to the updated League policies that are being referenced here? Are those viewable anywhere? I wouldn't have known that they were recently updated save what was mentioned above. Equity's last safety rider was updated on October 1st and applies to all companies across the board except for Production/SET Agreements, the latter of which Beautiful runs on— the article makes it sound like testing in particular was the issue, but I imagine that agreement has to be quite strict and would also mandate vaccines and mask requirements as well.

If the AEA/League policies had been the same for months now why would Abilene have booked the tour, unless they thought they'd have found a loophole or something to present it anyways, to which I say; ha ha. I cannot imagine they would have been that naive— but thinking through the process is pretty interesting as an aspiring admin/programming person is all.

The Abilene stuff still doesn't make sense because that article says they wouldn't require City employees to vaccinate or show proof of vaccination, but then it goes on to say that they were only required to show negative test results, not vaccinations. But it also said they wouldn't require them to mask up, and that seems like it would be the biggest issue since the masking is definitely part of the safety protocol.

It's great that they did it for the actor playing Emma, but weird that it wasn't done consistently for everyone.

I wonder if the Emma character will be non binary in this production? That might require a lot of changes to the book and lyrics."

Emma is still cis female. Her gender was never a part of the story. Just that she was a lesbian.

I saw it in Cleveland. There are no changes from Broadway except a few costumes are different. 

Kaden is amazing and the representation we need being a trans enby queer person  playing a cis role.

A butch lesbian, as it is hinted at (and assumed by Barry Glickman). Alyssa is a femme lesbian.

When Angie is looking on Twitter at the beginning of the show, what does she say is trending? It was a Trump joke in the Broadway run but I assume that's been changed.

Yes that has been changed. I'm wondering if Trents lines about Sondheim will be changed.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with gender. Point being that Emma is still a cis female.

Bloomington mystery solved - just got an email that the stop has been moved to Sep 20-21, 2022, due to "complications in the productions touring schedule."

Definitely curious if the complication was "we won't schedule you for March without vaccine requirements"

I was suppose to see this last Sunday.  i drove all the way to Orlando.  Did some other things and had 90 minutes before show time.  I talked myself out of seeing it.  I was 95% of the way home, by the time the show would have started.  Other than the loser lottery price ($40 with fees) I really don't regret it.  BTW, this venue did require proof of vaccination, but doesn't anymore.

got to see the show this week - the references to Sondheim have been changed to Andrew Lloyd Webber, who Trent claims is a fan of his Phantom and then says he has a lot of “majestic, soaring hatred”

Saw “The Prom” on Broadway 9 times.  I saw this on tour in Nashville last week.  It was one of the worst touring productions I have ever seen. It seemed like they were just going thru the motions to get to the end. The sets, costumes and lighting were just cheap looking. I would avoid it at all costs.

I saw the tour a few weeks ago as well and.. meh. Loved it on Broadway, loved the movie but the energy was so low. Also we had an understudy for Emma and they gave one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen on stage.

We must've had the same Emma understudy who was very underwhelming. I thought the production as a whole was fine. It didn't sell very well in Nashville from the looks of things.

The touring cast sticks close to the Broadway mold. They bring strong vocals and safe acting choices. This show is timely but the characters are thin and the score mediocre. My inner script doctor wants to cut Trent or Angie and give Emma some agency. Four sad lesbian ballads is too many!

I thought the same thing in the way of having 4 Broadway actors. 3 always seems to be a good number. I have yet to see a production of The Prom (it's coming next season for my area), but just based on the movie alone, I agree that Trent or Angie could be cut...in all honesty, I'd cut Angie.
