“A one-night-only premier of the new documentary film The Show Must Go On to benefit The Actors Fund and help welcome back Broadway.
On August 9th, 2021, Emmy-winning filmmaker Dori Berinstein (ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway), theater director Sammi Cannold (Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Hollywood & Entertainment), WYSIWYG Studios, CEO Kwan-Woo Park and Elizabeth Armstrong will premier their new documentary film The Show Must Go On at Broadway’s Majestic Theatre to benefit and celebrate the work of The Actors Fund. The event will represent the first time the venue has welcomed back an audience since the Broadway shutdown on March 12, 2020. The film, about the survival of theater in the wake of the global pandemic, features theatermakers from around the globe in the year 2020 as they strive to make it to opening night against all odds. The film features artists keeping the flame alive worldwide and focuses in on the South Korean theater industry, artists on the World Tour of The Phantom of the Opera, artists on the South Korean Tour of Cats, and Andrew Lloyd Webber in his fight for theater’s survival on The West End and beyond. Ultimately, the film is a manifesto on the critical importance of the performing arts and storytelling now and into the future. The Show Must Go On, co-directed and produced by Berinstein and Cannold, is executive produced by WYSIWYG Studios, CEO Kwan-woo Park and Elizabeth Armstrong.
The Majestic Theatre event will include the world premier screening of The Show Must Go On as well as appearances and performances to be announced.”

Posted: 8/2/21 at 8:22amKinda WAY too early for a documentary like this, especially as Broadway hasn’t fully returned and countries keep closing up due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. This documentary makes more sense in 5 years when we can look back and see the journey. We’re still IN the journey.
