When I initially purchased tickets (September 2019 lol), they were selling row AA and BB, so I booked orch center row A thinking it would be really close but far enough back to still get a sense of everything. Now, I’m realizing row A is the first row, which feels like a mistake given the scope of the show.

I was able to get tickets in row N, house left just a couple of seats off the center aisle. And while they’re 12-13 rows back, it seems like a better option overall. I’ve not been to the winter garden, so I wanted to check here to see if anyone has any opinions on those two seating areas. Thanks in advance for any help!

I posted in the previews thread, but since the seating thread got bumped up I'll post here, too

I saw the show 3 times

Orch E1 - literally a perfect seat, absolutely no complaints

Mezz A30, quietly and quickly moved to A18 after "Goodnight My Someone" during the applause break, mostly to get away from the guy in A34 who thought the lights being turned down meant it was okay to free his nose from his mask, even after being told by the usher not to do that - I generally don't like mezz seats, so for me this was the worst of the 3 performances. But most people will love A18. Due to the curve of the mezz it's not terribly far back, it's full view, and you get a great view of the dance numbers. A30 had some side action cut off but is also only $99, so a great budget option. The leg room is a huge plus, too. I have vision problems that make it hard for my eyes to focus from that far away, so I could not really see faces very well. But people with better vision than me probably could see faces fine.

Orch A1 - Amazing for a 3rd visit to the show. Would likely not be amazing for someone's first viewing. Shouldn't be $300, either, but it is. I love sitting close (on the same trip I sat in front row for Company and second row for Come From Away), the stage height did not bother me, sometimes ensemble members blocked upstage cast members. But a lot of the show takes place front and center, so those moments were very few. It's not the best place to sit if you want the full scope of the dance numbers, but it's great for watching character interactions.

(in my home touring venue, I almost exclusively sit front row off to the extreme side, so please take my review with as many grains of salt as you want; I am always viewing shows from an extreme angle, and I value facial expressions over seeing the whole stage at a glance)

Somebody in the Previews thread asked about experiences of people who had purchased seats in Row BB. We had an interesting experience. We had purchased three tickets in Row BB. When the row went away, two of them were moved to the "equivalent" seats in Row A, but the third was moved to an aisle seat in Row B with a clear view of the stage - but on the other side of the theater. Which is okay, but kind of disappointing that we got separated. Telecharge said that was the theater's choice, and it was the best they could do for us.

Thanks for this thread. I use A View from my Seat often and contribute back when I attend.

Man the prices are ROUGH! $270/ $599 seats just aren't in the cards for us ha ha. They just released MEZ-L, Row A, Seats 49,51 for the date I want to attend (a Saturday evening) at $99 but they are only 2-seats short of being as far to the side as you can get (even worse than A30 that @angoradebs was in!)...but that would guarantee we are in the house and we could change seats up to 48-hours prior without penalty if we wanted.......I was planning to rush but but I could spend 2-hours outside to only spend $100 less and maybe end-up with the same or worse seats. Tough call!!!

It was likely me in the Previews thread - did you already see the show? Or are you seeing it soon? I’m still trying to gather information since I’m going to be dealing with the same thing, unfortunately. I called this morning and they said they’d be reaching out about moving us, but that they were still working their way through the February dates at the moment. I guess I’m just wondering if that was an excuse or if it seems to be the case. How long ago was it that they switched your seats? I’m just kind of gobsmacked that Telecharge didn’t do any sort of blanket announcement or email… there’s surely more people out there like me that think they have the seats they purchased, only to eventually have that thrown up in the air. There’s only two of us in my group so I really hope we don’t get separated. It’s just all so frustrating. Oh, last question if you don’t mind, but did they email or call you, or just change it on Telecharge? It’s interesting that Telecharge is saying the Winter Garden is making the decision.

I am sitting in Row R, Orchestra Center. I know that's almost in the way back, but are those decent seats?

Just booked tickets for Music Man and very confused on the seating chart on Telecharge vs the theater seating chart.

Telecharge - Mezzanine sections:

Front Mezz Right - seat numbers run from 2-42 (depending on how many seats in a row)

Front Mezz Right Center - seat numbers run from 101-124 (depending on how many seats in a row)

Front Mezz Left Center - seat numbers run from 1-39 (depending on how many seats in a row)

Front Mezz Left - seat numbers run from 41-59 (depending on how many seats in a row)

But...

The general seating charts of the theater number the Front Mezz Left Center as 102-144 and the Front Mezz Left as 1-22.

Can anyone clarify the seat numbering?

I have a "5" seat - the Telecharge selection seating chart shows that seat in Mezz Left Center but the general seating charts online has THAT seat as a "105" seat and the "05" seat is actually in Mezz Left Left.

Did they renumber the seats?

Our show is Feb 19. We were contacted about the change via e-mail on Jan 12. I feel like they would try hard to keep a pair of folks together, and the fact that we had this odd number didn't help. What also didn't help was the Telecharge representative saying it shouldn't make a difference since we shouldn't be talking during the performance anyway.

Thanks so much for your response! It’s helpful to know a little more about what to expect. I wish they would go ahead and proactively switch people who call in, rather than having to wait around til they get to our date to automatically reassign and alert via email. We are going to be there for over a week and still have like 4 days free. So if they don’t have something together and comparable for our original date, there’s still some wiggle room at this point. We’re going the last week of April so seems like we’ve got awhile to wait before we know anything (row BB is removed only through the end of February so seems they haven’t started on the March dates yet). Thanks so much, again!

That week is very well sold, I have no idea where they'll put an entire row of people for each performance without severely downgrading you. They may be hoping that more people opt to return their tickets since performances through 4/30 are refundable, but that seems pretty unlikely. Honestly, if you find seats you'd like to sit in for a date that works for you, you might be better served to just utilize the exchange button on your order page (or buy new tickets and refund the old ones if the exchange button is gone) and take care of it yourself.

Maybe the reason why they are delaying re-seating of BB is to get the ticketholder a better seat in case there are last-minute cancellations which free better seats?

I once had BB seats but when it seems that they were cancelling the row,  I called Telecharge and asked them to rebook me for row A-center (same price) which were available at that time... and to cancel my BB tickets. They simply asked me to buy the A seats first and then they would cancel the BB tickets. Which happened.

I am wary of buying tickets for previews for a number of reasons --

*the whole preview period may be cancelled ( happened to me for a Mackintosh production in London)

*the show may change...and also, the performers may not have settled down in their roles yet

*sometimes they can eliminate some seats or rows due to technical issues.

The last happened in TheBoyFromOz in 2003. Ticket-buying was as frenzied because that was Jackman's first B'way foray after he became popular in the XMen films. So row BB was fully booked almost immediately. However lighting technical issues arose during rehearsals and they decided to eliminate BB. The ticket holders were re-seated or re-scheduled. I was lucky to be in the new front row --  Row AA ( which eventually became very much sought-after because HJ repositioned the show to include many break-the-4th-wall incidents).

PS:  I have also used the EXCHANGE option for other tickets that I hold for the show.  Btw, if you want to get an update of your ticket orders, use the "Order Status" feature on the Telecharge page.

Unfortunately, as you stated, it’s very well sold. There’s nothing anywhere comparable (much less two seats, and impossible for seats together). The telecharge rep I spoke with had put me on hold while he enquired with someone else and thankfully he had expected further questions from me and asked if the seats would be comparable, which the supervisor said they would. Since the other poster said they were indeed plugged into the row behind, that combined with the supervisor’s answer gives me hope that there’s actually a plan and places for us to go. Because it’s not actually a full row of seats that were sold, it’s smatterings of random groupings. There are 8 BBs that were sold for my date, 6 in center and 2 in ORCH Left.

I’m also annoyed with this because I feel like they should have done all these BB re-seatings before opening things back up for GA to buy tickets after all the rescheduling. This is one of the few things that Covid had no effect on, as this would seemingly have happened regardless. I would love to have been made aware of this way back when they decided, as I could have had more of a chance to do something proactively. They obliterated that opportunity by not informing anyone.

I also feel like any complaints will fall on deaf ears because they all know it’s THE show and if someone complains, so what, someone else will buy the ticket. For even more money, probably. It’s like their attitude in the announcement about no press tickets during previews, they were so high on their own bs. I don’t know, this whole thing just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth and it’s disappointing. This was something we planned a whole trip around and bought immediately when it went onsale and now we’re in this flux and won’t even get the seats we specifically picked out. I don’t know, I’m just trying to reign in my anxiety with all this since I only just learned I don’t actually have the tickets I thought I’ve had the past two years.

After quite a bit of back and forth, we decided to list our 2/12 Row A tickets on stubhub, and they sold yesterday. If I was able to see the show twice, I’d have happily kept them, but we’ve got a full schedule while we’re in NYC and we wanted to get a full scope of the show.

I’ve been keeping an eye on telecharge and good seats are popping up here and there. I initially bought Orch L Row N seats 5 and 7, but was able to swap into Orch C Row M seats 101 and 102. I’ll keep looking to see if anything else pops up, but I feel like 12 rows back is better for the full experience of this show vs. the front row. Will report back here with thoughts of that seating area for anyone curious.

I sat in A1 (house left) and my husband sat in A2 (house right) for the 3 pm performance yesterday (bought after the posts about how great of a deal these seats might be). They are in fact a great deal. We both agreed that the only time anything was blocked was during the Marion the Librarian number, because of the huge desk set piece in the center of the stage (blocking the back corners), which isn’t just an issue with these particular seats. A2 is probably the better seat (with some special up-close time with Hugh and Winthrop). And while the piano that sometimes appears stage right doesn’t block A1, it sure would block A3 and beyond. It’s a fantastic production though, and we loved every minute of it!

I was at the show this weekend and I sat in Row R, Orchestra Center. That may seem far away, but I could see everything clearly without having to move my head around that much. I could see their faces clearly without obstruction. The Winter Garden is more intimate than I thought it was.

What a whirlwind, and thank goodness for the exchange option on Telecharge. After selling our Orch center row A seats and buying row N Orch left, I was able to move into Orch center row M, and then tonight, a block of seats opened up and I was able to book Orch center row H seats 103 and 104. 8th row, should be the right balance of up close while also getting the full picture of the show! Can’t wait for Saturday night!

Like Jo said, I am using the exchange option on the website. The refunds have been posting after 1-2 days so it’s been really easy.

can you guys please help me rank these seats ?

1) orchestra right row A seat 10-12 (so almost completely to the side)

2) orchestra right row C seat 14-16 (also almost completely to the side)

3) orchestra centre row V seat 117 ( and 116 I think), last row

thanks!
