Stephen Sondheim said "Company is a show about connecting, about the necessity of having other people in our lives. This past year, with its isolation, has reminded us all of that need for togetherness, so I'm happy that Marianne Elliott's startling and exhilarating production is coming back to Broadway. See it. It will make you laugh, make you care, and lift your spirits at a time when we need such things."

Director Marianne Elliott said, "During the last 18 months, we have all struggled with isolation and loneliness and Company is the exact opposite of that. It is a musical about being happily together again, about celebrating each other with love, laughter, and deep joy. I have been reminded of the essential human need to be with other people and I can't wait to share the show with our amazing New York audiences. At last!"

Producer Chris Harper added "Live theater is all about bringing people together and no show celebrates that more than Stephen Sondheim's and George Furth's joyous musical Company. We can't wait to share the love and the laughter with audiences at the Jacobs Theatre from December 20th.

"It is anticipated that the cast that was in previews for Company will return to the production with final details to be announced in the coming weeks."

"

It’s weird how they announced this without contacting the cast and crew.

Finally! Only wish they were opening a bit earlier, but maybe some of these productions that didn’t get to start or were only in previews need that extra time to regain their balance.

I was surprised to see how many tickets are currently listed in Telecharge as being Premium.  I wonder if we can take that as a sign that Patti is going to be in the production.  I personally prefer to wait to buy tickets until I know if she will be in the show.

I mean the fact that she’s still prominent featured in the advertising makes me pretty certain she’s coming back.

I bought tickets for the first preview just now. Wasn't a prior ticket-holder.

And as for original cast being back... Gosh, I hope they are—but what a privilege to worry about individual actors again, rather than, you know, an entire production/industry...

The Company socials restarted a media push a little over a month ago that included both Patti and Katrina prominently. Obviously it's not confirmation, but I would take that as a very positive sign that both are returning.

Aside from any cast returning details: I am so THRILLED to see that this is returning. I originally bought tickets in October 2019(!!!), and when covid canceled it I was heartbroken. The energy behind that show is going to be something special.

The BWW article begins:

"The highly-anticipated new production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's landmark American musical, Company, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Marianne Elliott starring Tony and Grammy Award winner Katrina Lenk as Bobbie and two-time Tony Award and two- time Grammy Award winner Patti LuPone as Joanne will resume preview performances on Monday, December 20, 2021 ahead of a Sunday, January 9, 2022 official opening night, pending Broadway's anticipated return with government approval, and following health and safety guidelines."

I took that as confirmation that at least Lenk and LuPone are returning.

also, from today’s Broadway Briefing email:

-- "'Company' will return to Broadway on Dec. 20" by Broadway News' Caitlin Huston - "The new revival of "Company" will resume Broadway performances on Dec. 20. Katrina Lenk, who plays Bobbie, and Patti Lupone as Joanne are confirmed to return with the production, with the rest of the cast anticipated to return. An opening night is planned for Jan. 9, 2022 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Tickets for the musical go on sale Tuesday. "Company" played nine preview performances before the March 12, 2020 Broadway shutdown.

I had tickets to this the weekend that Broadway shut down. We've now repurchased for January 2022, for the same day our Music Man tickets were rescheduled for. Can't wait to see Katrina and Patti from the front row. Going to be a great day of theater.

I did notice how many more premium seats were there (our previous seats were third row orchestra and were not premium), so I'm glad we were able to secure seats at our previous price point.

Just went on to the general site, and bought 2 prime seats for Tuesday Dec 21st

This truly is the perfect production for when Broadway reopens! On top of what the creative team says about connection, how many people in the past year have had to celebrate very strange birthdays?

Everyone who will get to see it is so lucky.

I chatted with Bobby Conte Thornton a few weeks ago, and this is what he had to say about "Company."

""Company" on Broadway was just about to be frozen when the pandemic struck, Thornton said.

"We were feeling really secure in the work we had created over those six weeks of rehearsals, and a couple of weeks of teching and the week or so we had done previews. But you can't just replicate and re-create what was done before," he said. "We're all going to be vastly different individuals and human beings coming back."

While he says the universal truths of "Company" will always stay the same, "what we all bring to that world I think is going to be hopefully far more enlightened and self-aware. I'm just excited for us all to be in the space to explore those ideas together and make whatever this new version of 'Company' will be.""

Here's the link if any interest - also includes some words with Andre De Shields about "Hadestown" and Jackie Burns about an upcoming project.

Looking at purchasing tickets. Anybody have guidance on which $189 seats would be best?  Why is front row cheaper than 3rd row?

The first row is simply too close, the stage is pretty high. I just bought third row center due to that exact issue.

I sat front mezz one seat off the aisle, and I had a WONDERFUL view. They were the cheaper seats, so I'd recommend those.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this production. I just hope they've worked on Bobby's music and lowered it or something and I hope Elliot has thought about the staging of "being alive" as it felt aimless.
