Hi,

I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the new indie movie musical "Best Summer Ever" that was just released on VOD yesterday, after playing at some film festivals over the past year?

I'm surprised that they haven't promoted it more to the Broadway community before it's official release, since that would be a major target audience for something like this, especially now that Broadway has been closed for over a year, and people are starved for new musical content.

It's gotten mixed positive to rave reviews from movie critics, with a Critic's Pick rating from the NYT this week.

I'm not sure if it's Guinness official, but they claim it's the first feature film with a majority cast and crew with disabilities.

Anyways, it's definitely worth checking out, if you like/love musicals. The plot may be very conventional, but the execution is definitely anything but, with a fully integrated cast and crew of people with, and without disabilities. One of the things that make it unique is that the people with disabilities are not stigmatized and boxed in, and the plot does not revolve around that aspect.

It's available now on VOD, and also for free rental on Hoopla through your local library: https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/best-summer-ever
