Any aussies here planning on seeing Frozen? Curious how they are doing this with the 85% capacity restriction and everything. I hope they're successful for the sake of the theatre world at large.

The Capitol is a large barn and I’m guessing the 85% will mean not filling the nosebleed section up in the rear mezz that in my experience can start to get a bit thin in terms of sales for longer successful runs anyway (e.g. see Wicked). I suspect the bigger problem will be even trying to move the seats that are on sale. From what I can see, it doesn’t look like people are rushing to the theatre. Additionally, my understanding is that Pippin over at the lyric has not exactly been a financial cash cow either. It may take a bit of time, a vaccine and a growing economy for things to truly bounce back (the same in London and New York).
"Rose in Gypsy was like going through therapy for me. Playing Rose helped me put a lot of emotions to bed. There was so much lacking in Rose and that's why she had to prove herself through her children. [interviewer]In ways that reminded you of your mom?[/interviewer]. Let's just say the role was very interesting for me. That one was the most interesting [I've ever played]" - Bernadette Peters (2018)

Pippin got Slaughtered by the critics.

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

No it didn't.  Why would you lie about something that is so easy to check out?

Thank you Owen22! I agree. After reading the original post, I researched the reviews and rosscoe(au) is indeed wrong in reporting that the show got "slaughtered by the critics".

Isn’t this pippin the same pippin which won the 2013 tony award for best revival? Why would someone feel the need to lie about this is beyond me.

Trust me I didn’t lie the only review I saw was from the guardian ( and I should have quoted that better instead of saying all critics )

but it hadn’t been a love fest for it

Pippin review – musical theatre returns with a sea of spectacle that almost drowns the show

The cast of Pippin.

Lyric Theatre, at Sydney’s Star Casino

This big, strange musical is an acrobatic, fire-juggling, hoop-jumping extravaganza. Like all magic, it’s also an exercise in misdirection
