What a delightful musical. Did not know it was a musical till watched the full trailer. It did take awhile to hear Anika Noni Rose sing her one song - which may be my only complaint.
Watched this yesterday and loved it. Not sure why it's not getting more love on here. Original story, original songs, and lots of fun! There were moments of similarities to Greatest Showman and moments of similarities to Mary Poppins. Watch and enjoy!

Choreography was by Ashley Wallen who won the World Choreography Award for his work in THE GREATEST SHOWMAN.

Really enjoyed this. Just watched it. Great songs and Anika's duet was worth the wait. That voice!
Journey's "Square Root of Possible" could easily be a class graduation song! We always had that positive "looking forward" song sung by the school choir at our graduations and this reminded me of that. It's like a young kid's anthem.
This was EXCELLENT - for sure a new classic in my family. I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop ever since watching it. I would love to see this as a big splashy broadway musical someday.
I didn't know until this afternoon that Madelen Mills was a replacement in "School of Rock" on Broadway. She did an interview on What You Need to Know earlier today. They said she has done Broadway so looked her up.
I couldn't help but think that Madelen Mills would make a terrific Dorothy in Wiz (or Wizard of Oz). I'd love to hear her take on Wiz songs and she has the right about of perk and spunk for Dorothy.
Finally watched this and what an absolute delight! Perhaps one of the least Christmasy Christmas movies that exists, but who cares! So beautiful to look at, such amazing casting , just joyous love.
Watch, people, watch!

Yeah I enjoyed the movie as well but also thought the ending was horrible, spoilers below cause the spoiler tag wasn't working for me...
How do those kids not know their grandmother's name is Journey? All of a sudden they open the window and go oh that giant toy factory is actually our families? I guess hearing the story unleashed the magic in them because now they "believed" but all of that ending was extremely sloppy writing.

That was just a design in her hair, like how her hair was a kid but she was hiding it now as an adult for whatever reason but this confirmed she was Journey.
Them not knowing her name didn't bother me (lots of kids don't know their grandparents names). As to the rest...meh, I was too entranced to care, but this king zbout it now, I see the problem.
To make the whole thing work better, there needed to be a bigger issue with the grandkids -- fighting, being bored, complaining...something that truly gave grandma a REASON to share hhe story. However, I'm not going to let hhe bookends concern me.

I liked it if nothing else because it was different and well made and catchy tunes and the beautiful little winter village. Some of the verbal maths threw me for a bamboozle but all in fun. Heard a Guys Who Likes Musicals podcast episode with one of the music writers before watching, which made me excited to finally see it.
