I agree: Let actors with autism act.

Now he's apparently blocking fans on the spectrum on IG and twitter. I don't deserve to live anymore. Glad I never saw him live.

Seriously dude, we get it. You aren’t a fan of the movie.  Get over it and move on.

Tina Fey had this to say about the film during the opening monologue at last night’s Golden Globes:

"Sia's controversial film Music is nominated for Best International Floparooni. I don't want to get into it, guys, but it's real problematic and Twitter is saying it's the most offensive casting since Kate Hudson was the Weight Watchers spokesperson."

Well I can't attach the photos here but I tweeted the screenshot . I'm now going to be known as the one LOJ ranted at on IG... He replied saying he wanted to have a fourm on this but "social media wasn't the best place ". I mentioned on my posts on here and on a fb group and he asked what they said and I told him most thought the film was disturbing.

Here's his original reply to me . I know at least one of the people blocked mentioned they were on the spectrum and were also blocked by Kate Hudson . https://twitter.com/Bunny391848/status/1366503880125784064?s=19

Also, wasn't there some gossip he and LMM weren't getting along at one point ??

Also, Tina Fey grew up a few towns over from me. She rocks !!!

I’m just not sure what trolling the actors from the film is doing? It’s already been shot. They have no control over the final edit or any of that. From LOJ vantage a Sia directed movie with Kate Hudson is a no brainer. So to just keep trolling people - I don’t get? Dont like the movie don’t see it. Clearly it flopped - although I do enjoy the soundtrack.

Oh yes. He was a little diva when he was in Hamilton, refusing to do the outdoor concerts before showtime to keep the lottery crowds entertained. The nasty emails that were published also showed disdain as well. Loved him in Smash, Tick Tick Boom! and when I saw him live in Hamilton. That was before I knew all of this and before he decided to ruin the character of Aaron Burr during the filming of Hamilton by acting like a ridiculous, embarrassing cartoon character with a lisp. He clearly did that on purpose considering his deal came within hours of them shooting it. His concert at Lincoln Center where he refused to talk or engage in the audience in any way was the last straw for me. Nawp.

Honestly, I’m not sure what people want nowadays. Cancel culture is relentless. The film flopped, the creatives apologized for their insensitivity. They are forever associated with this offensive terrible film. Hopefully they have learned something in the process.

Actors sign on sight unseen. I am sure the dude had no idea how Sia would work, had no creative control and people are chewing him out?!? I just don’t get it.

Also, him being a “diva” has nothing to do with people coming for him on social media. If people are being relentless he has every right to block them. He decided his Twitter isn’t a place for conversation. His right.

I might be a diva too if money was being made hand over fist and I wasn’t offered a piece of the pie that I helped create. I also might not want to entertain lottery contestants if I was exhausted by the phenomenon I am now a part of. You might view it as ungrateful. Maybe it was his self care.

Its funny people advocating for compassion have none for him. Do you know his mental health or trauma history? Also rich that people are telling a man of color he needs to just shut up and perform, smile, talk between songs, respond to their questions with no consideration for him. Very rich indeed.

Oh Jesus Christ. It has ZERO to do with him being a man of color regarding his Lincoln Center concerts. Every person who has done that concert talk to the audience, share stories, talk about their ensemble, explain why these songs mean a lot of them, etc. Norm Lewis and Cynthia Erivo are great examples. It's part of putting on an intimate concert with a small audience. He had zero engagement.

And regarding the emails, if you had read them you would know they had nothing to do with him being exhausted.

Do your research before defending anyone in the future, thanks.

I hate that term. People have the right to reject others for what they believe to be unacceptable views or actions, whether legitimate or not. Even if you disagree with such rejection, that doesn't change their right to it.

First off, I am just quoting this message because... THIS. All of this. If you didn't read it above, read it now. If you read it already, read it again.

Actors sign a contact. Once they sign the contract, they have to do what the producers and the creatives say. Keep in mind that when this project started, there was a different actress in the role who was on the spectrum. He and Kate signed onto a totally different movie that looked and sounded like it would be sensitive to the subject matter. But then what it warped into something else when the creatives decided to go in another direction.

And also, as an actor that is still SOMEWHAT up and coming in the movies, you do not bite the hand that feeds you. Actors need to earn their ability in the movie industry to make noise and speak up against the ones writing the scripts and writing the checks. You burn one bridge, you can get blacklisted very quickly. It is very much in his best interest as an up and coming movie actor to not cause a scene either during production or after release.

Agreed 10000000%

I did a production of Les Miz where we used a ton of different English dialects ... even though the show takes place in France... because that’s what the director wanted. Actors are the bottom of the totem pole. They’re just in the public eye. But they don’t have a ton of say.

So I don’t get why you’d keep dragging someone for making one bad movie. Drag the producers, drag the people who are distributing the film, don’t drag the dude trying it get a paycheck.

Same case of people confusing an actor for a role they play. Taking a character’s dialogue as those of the actor saying those words. It’s insane (and baffling) how simpletons can’t understand the logic. Many start hating an actor simply because of a villain they played.

For what it's worth, Leslie Odom Jr. had a doubly disappointing night at the Golden Globes. He was up for TWO awards: Supporting Actor and Original Song for ''One Night in Miami.'' A number of pundits even picked Odom as the odd's-on-favorite to win one, and possibly both, of his categories. Instead, he lost both his bids. In addition, his two other movies - ''Hamilton'' and ''Music'' - were also up for two Golden Globes, and they got shut out, too. ... Maybe Odom hasn't thrown away his ''best shot'' and he'll win at the Oscars.

A few people are conflating a lot of issues here, all involving an actor in a film that's drawn a lot of derision - even at the show where it was nominated for awards.

Leslie Odom Jr. is not such a huge movie star that he should trash a film he was hired to act in and promote. He's not even the star of the movie, and he didn't write or direct it. I haven't seen Music, and probably won't based on all the bad reviews. But if it sucked, he'll move on and no one will remember.

I've seen LOJ in three things, Hamilton on Broadway, Hamilton the film, and One Night in Miami. I thought he was excellent on Broadway, and his version of "The Room Where it Happens," singing to the rafters of the Richard Rodgers Theatre (where I was sitting) is probably my favorite moment in a theater. So I have a soft spot for him. (Ironically, I'm not sure he's the best Burr I've seen, but he was the first and gave an excellent performance. The guy won a deserved Tony.)

I didn't think he was as good in the film capture. Was he as dreadful as a few of you are saying? I didn't think so, but reasonable minds can differ. I was surprised and impressed by his performance in One Night in Miami

As for his attitude during the Hamilton run, or his holdout over being in the film, I am on his side. Odom wasn't the only performer who wanted to get a little something for themselves in a once-in-a-generation hit show, and who can blame them? As others have noted, getting annoyed at a Black man for wanting to get paid for his award-winning work doesn't really sit right.

I can't comment on his musical career (have heard a few songs) or his concert banter. I'm not sure why it's relevant, aside from turning a thread about an apparent clunker of a film into a critique of everything Leslie Odom Jr. has ever done.
