This past October 27 my husband and I both tested positive for Covid.  We had been so careful  We had stayed in our home since February.  We have our groceries delivered.  We wear our masks.  We keep our home super clean.  We have not seen our family and friends since February.    I have not seen my 85 year old mom since last December and my siblings since before then.

On October 20 we rented a house in Palm Springs for a few days.  We needed a change of scenery.  We had started to go mental.  While in Palm Springs we had our meals delivered.  We were happy in our change of scenery seclusion.   On the day before our last day we saw a friend.  We had breakfast.  Sat outdoors.   Wore our masks.  Had plexiglass dividing us.  On the last day we visited The Living Zoo.  All out doors .  We wore our masks.  We kept to ourselves .   There was hardly anyone there.   We stopped at a outdoor burger joint on our way back to LA.    Again.. stayed away from everyone.. sat outside,  wore our masks...felt safe...etc...

Started feeling sick the very first day we got back.   We went  and got tested the very next day.  Results came back negative.

The next day we both had raging fevers and the most severe case of cotton mouth I had ever experienced.   Called the doctor.   Told us to go get retested.   Results came back positive.

We were recovering at home and going thru the sickness.  Watching Biden win was great but the celebrations in the streets ( even with masks) were really upsetting to us.  That very next day my husbands oxygen level dropped to the 80's.   I called the doctor.  He said get him to the emergency room immediately.  Sick as I also was I had to take him myself.  A ambulance would have taken him to our small local hospital where we had in the past been thru a very bad experience.    Dropped him at the ER... I have not seen him since.  He had Covid pneumonia.

This past week he has been treated with 3 antibiotics and Therapeutics.  Rendezivir  (spelling? ) being the main one.   Last night they took him off the oxygen to see how his levels did on their own.  He did well.  This morning he sounded really good on the phone and we are hopeful he will be released today or tomorrow.  But this is our guess.. we are waiting for the doctors to make their rounds.

Today marks the 3rd day in a row I have gone without a fever.   I feel ok.   I have not slept in over a week.  Still achy.. I get really bad headaches at night and my neck gets stiff.   I video consult with my doctor every other day.   I miss my husband.  We have been together over 20 years and rarely are apart.  Besides being sick he is loosing his mind knowing I am sick as well.

I was having trouble concentrating on anything on TV to help me.   This board as slow as it is did offer some relief.  Show clips on youtube have been a true gift.  But at times some things get me very emotional.

I don't know why I am posting this.. but I am very anxious.. very lonely,  and desperate for my man to be home.

I hope I can pass to you that you should not let your guard down.  Wear your masks.  Try to stay home.  Really consider if you really need to go to that Thanksgiving or that outdoor restaurant.  .  I don't know how we got sick.  Truth is that there is a lot about Covid they just don't know.

Some of you know me thru social media.  I have not posted anything there in a while as my mom is on there and we made the choice ( with my siblings) not to tell her.   She is frail and has health issues.  Also... hard to watch on Facebook and instagram how some of you go out and pose for pictures and seem to be getting a little careless.  Normally I love all those pics.  Love seeing people happy.    But please be careful.   I really wish we had just stayed locked in the house.  Something we will do now till this nightmare is over.

I’m so sorry Dame to hear what happened to you and your husband. It helps having someone like you share your story because while all of us have total Covid fatigue - if just one person reads this and decides the ounce of precaution is worth the pound of protection-you’ll already done more than those in government at the highest levels.

Continue to get well and good thoughts for both of you and mom!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Like you, I've been nothing but careful this entire time. About a month ago, this horrible barking dog of a human being stormed into my local grocery store and it was spewing, screaming, practically spitting about her rights and liberties. She was told to leave and finally escorted out by security but I think the damage had already been done. I was right in the front of the store near her so I suspect that is where I got it. Uncontrollable chills and complete exhaustion were my symptoms. A few days of constant headaches as well. I couldn't even climb my stairs, it was so awful. Three days ago I tested negative and I'm okay but it's maddening to see people gathering for parties and events.

What you and your husband have been through sounds absolutely devastating. And not having a loving touch at the hospital? What absolute hell on earth. I hope you are 100% soon, and your husband comes home soon and you can resume what seems like an incredibly sweet, close marriage.

Sending healing wishes to and yours.

Prayers for you and your husband and a fast recovery. The carelessness of millions now are the reason for the huge spikes now. I'm worried during the holidays that too many will still have their normal Christmas parties and the numbers will be even worse starting in the New Year.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Glad to be reading that it seems the ending is positive. Wishing you both the best.

I know you have been very careful with mask and your hygiene which is all good. Do you think you might of caught Covid on the flight from California to Florida?

Thanks for sharing all of this. Such a detailed look I hope will remind people, if they need to be, how important it is to be careful. May you and your husband have speedy recoveries! Be well! We're here to support.

Sorry to hear about your experience.  I wish you and your husband a speedy recovery.  You described the reality of a covid infection.  Yet, today, everywhere I went, tons and tons of people not wearing masks and not social distancing.   Mostly young and POC.  I would suspect that it is possible you caught it from the surfaces of the home you rented.

Thank you all for your kind words.   My husband was discharged yesterday.   From the time they told him he was going home to the time they brought him out it was 5 hours.   Hospitals are slammed right now .Just sitting in my car waiting and seeing the comings and goings was crazy.

Someone in the thread asked if we could have caught this on a plane.   We haven't been on a plane in over-a year.   Palm Springs is a two hour drive from Los Angeles.

We both slept well last night.

"

Apologies It was me who mentioned the flight, I conflated Palm Springs and Palm Beach, Florida. No matter if you sit on a plane with your mask, it is the people on the flight not wearing a mask, spreading this virus.

Glad this story has a reasonable happy ending for you both.

Thanks again to all of you for the well wishes.  I am doing better.  Headaches and stiff neck still happening.   Husband is doing ok.  While in the hospital they also had him pumped up on steroids to reduce inflammation.  I believe he is now going thru withdrawal.  Which makes one very weak.    BTW... Hospital bills took no time in starting to arrive via the portal..   We have excellent insurance.. but... did you know that a tube of Petroleum Jelly ( Vaseline)  is being billed for $640.00  ?  And that is just a example....  I already know this song and dance with hospital billing.  Whatever insurance doesn't cover.. you have to read over very carefully and get on the phone and argue,  have them reduce,  resubmit to insurance and argue again......  over and over again.  Be well everyone.  I might be over sharing.

You're not over-sharing if you're messaging people that genuinely do care about you. I for one count myself amongst those who do and I am happy that you are feeling better and that your husband is home from the hospital. Prayers are up on my end for the both of you for a speedy recovery! xoxo

Glad to hear you're on the mend, Dame!

Your $640 tube of vaseline reminded me of a friend of mine who fell off of his bicycle in San Diego in January of this year. He "came to" in an ambulance en route to the hospital. He had no cuts, bruises or anything. The hospital wanted to keep him overnight for observation. He was discharged the next morning. Luckily, he suffered no injuries...as I said, not even a cut or bruise. The ambulance and hospital bill came to $42,000. He has great insurance, but still...

All the best to you and your spouse.  Welcome back!

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I credit Pearl Bailey's DOLLY with healing me of the Hing Kong flu in the late 60's and Bette Midler's DOLLY got me out of my wheelchair to 'rejoin the human race' after my health debacle last year.

Wishing you both a speedy recovery.
