A writer named Nick Summers is posting a semi-autobiographical piece of fiction on his blog called Rocket to Mars. The preface is here, the first part (of what will eventually be three) is here.

Reading between the lines, based on my own experience, this seems to pretty clearly be about working with Jim Steinman on Bat Out of Hell: The Musical. The prefatory matters suggest that this tale will get darker before it gets lighter.

Might be worth some discussion here!

I don't think you need to read between the lines: https://nicksummerswriter.wordpress.com/

Hm. If you found the last installment of the tale riveting, he gets a little more blunt and frank this time. Might even be crying bloody (attempted) murder here. A story worthy of the NY Times, if you ask me...

Well, he's given up on the slim pretense of hiding it. Apparently this is the offending mix of medicine from one "Ted Frankman"...

I was compelled to click the link from the 12/03 post, having read none of the other stuff, and I gotta say, the guy has a way with a page-turner. Or what would the reading onscreen equivalent be? Screen scroller? It's a compelling read and I would pay cash money for a streamed, concert production of "Rocket to Mars," I mean, if they could so SMASH, why not? (I would pay $10, not Jefferson Mays money.)

I'll break my rule of responding to people I've blocked simply for this bon mot: you had your shot. It ran at City Center last summer.

I meant I'd pay to see "Rocket to Mars," not "Bat Out of Hell." Like the people who went to the big benefit performance of "Bombshell" in real life.
