Namo:

Namo: Poster Girl for Term Limits

Lindsey Graham
Assumed Office

Like most Americans, Roxy demonstrates the full extent of his knowledge.  He has been educated that socialism is "bad" and then posts a definition of "socialism" that is incorrect. It's a failure of a country that doesn't teach facts, but shores up mythology. And this is why so many Americans (most Americans???) are offensive to thinking people who understand that reality is complicated but there are plenty of challenging discussions to be had. We would like to have them. Where are the people who can go even a little bit deeper than the utterly facile?

Islander_fan said: "There’s an interesting article in Time Magazine that I read that was talking about how many are speaking out against the president. Now, one did use his name and was getting threatening phone calls after having done so.

Whereas another one said he was scared to use his name stating that between the Boogaloo Boys and the Q-Anon supporters who both have committed political acts of violence based on their support for trump he was scared to find out what would happen if he did.

With groups threatening the lives of those who speak out against Trump, might you be able to understand that there may be good reason for people not using their names in articles? It’s not telling of anything negative as you hav said. It is, however, telling regarding what’s going on in the world that it is a very smart and safe things for people to not use their name in the press.

Certainly, I can understand people not wanting to use their names due to potential threats from scumbags.  That doesn't automatically make their statements credible.  And that fear hasn't stopped many others - and won't stop many more.

Bolton's statements contradict the Atlantic's last sentence in the first paragraph of their article, copied here:

"When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true."

I don't like Bolton any more than anyone else, but he had zero reason to lie about the reasons the president did not make the trip to the cemetery.  The Atlantic article loses credibility from the very beginning, and that not a single source will reveal themselves does not help their credibility.

With groups threatening the lives of those who speak out against Trump,

CBS had to give Lesley Stahl 24 hour security after Donald's hissy fit on 60 minutes. So you know, once again, this thread has an unreliable narrator.

The media as a whole, including social media tech giants, lose credibility way too often.  Most people don't know of and have never heard the name Tony Bobulinski, and based on what he has to say and offer as proof about the Biden family, it is reprehensible most media outlets are avoiding this story.  When this guy's name or the story is addressed, he and the story are dismissed as some perceived Russian disinformation play - without a spec of evidence to back those claims up.  The Hunter Biden laptop seems to be very real, what's claimed to be on it seems to be real, and Tony Bobulinski is a source that can provide backing evidence.  Biden won't even come out and categorically deny any element of the story.  On what planet should we trust the Atlantic's story where they state unknown "sources" claim Trump made disparaging comments about war veterans?  The media's corruption and incompetence will re-elect Trump.  People see through the ineptness of the mainstream media.

"seems to be very real" is the kind of slippery say-nothing language of the type that cults use.

The planet we live on is when other journalists find corroborating witnesses who verify what unnamed sources have claimed.  That is called joiurnalism. On this planet, all it takes is verification. Which The Atlantic and subsequent journalists did. It is a process. "Seems to be very real" is a statement that can't even commit to the lie!

Much of the mass media has failed to do this with the Hunter Biden laptop story.  Not only won't they seek out corroborating witnesses, they have no interest in Tony Bobulinski who is not only a corroborating witness, he is willing to reveal himself as the source AND provide evidence.  They ignore that the FBI has the laptop and conducting a money laundering investigation.  Not only this, this same unwilling media dismiss the story as a Russian disinformation act - with zero evidence, witnesses or corroboration.  The media is inept at best and corrupt at worst.  The first paragraph in the Atlantic's story indicates they are no exception.

Explain to me how this whole scandal is disqualifying for Biden.

PolitiFact has a breakdown of Tony Bobulinski and finds most of his claims to be unverifiable, as do leading journalist sources. But I guess it's all mass media and can't be trusted. Except for Tucker Carlson, who, by having a top rated show on a top rated network, is not mass media.

I never claimed this should be disqualifying for Biden.  The media should treat Biden the same way they do Trump.  That's all.  At the least, the story includes indicatations Biden lied when asked if he knew of his son's business dealings.  That should be exposed, no differently than had a lie of Trump's been exposed.  I realize that's difficult in that Biden won't make himself available.  The media won't even pose questions to their own audiences though.

Bobulinski has supplied specific evidence that is concerning and worthy of investigation.  The info in the NY Post story is also worthy of investigation.  Most of the media isn't interested, and worse, they dismiss the info altogether and not just suggest but claim the story is rooted in Russian disinformation (without evidence).  The NY Post story was blocked by Twitter, and much of the mainstream media has kinda done the same thing.  You, certainly, must understand that had the story contained Donald Trump Jr. rather than Hunter Biden the media would have been all over it - and the NY Post or any other outlet would not have been blocked by Twitter.

"I think I speak for most veterans"

"seems to be very real"

"Much of the mass media has failed to do this"

Inexact, fuzzy language. There is a list a mile long of publications that could find NO corroborating witnesses  on the apocryphal Hunter Biden laptop story. And the reason the Post reporter wanted his name off it, was not because of possible threats; he said it was because the story was unverifiable. There were NO corroborating witnesses. So, that's the problem when people use words that don't have any meaning and when they use words that do have agreed upon meanings, their cult leaders call it "FAKE."

"Cronkite is turning over in his grave right about now."

Cronkite was anti-fa. He was anti-Chicago cop in the '68 Democratic convention violence. He was very vocal against the tragic waste of American lives in the folly of the Viet Nam war. Archie Bunker (Roxy's role model)  called Cronkite "that Commie Pinko Walter Cronkite."

So, you know. People aren't very consistent in their strong right wing views over time, at least the ones who frequent this site.

Bobulinski is a corroborating witness with evidence to offer.  The media won't delve into this case - but they would if it was about Trump.  You know this is true.  They make up Russian disinformation excuses with no corroborating evidence to back those statements.  And they won't insist Biden answer questions.  They would demand Trump answer though.  In the context of deriving appropriate terms that apply to the media, fake is a very relevant word.

They HAVE investigated and found him lacking.

So what, exactly, are you arguing? That it's not fair that Trump and his family have their self-dealing, shady, and illegal actions spread everywhere and not Biden? Are you arguing that Biden is just as bad as Trump? That the media is out to get Trump? What is your analysis? Or are you just regurgitating the same talking points as Roxy and the other guy?

Kad, I don't believe they have investigated.  This is a big news story, false or not, and it's clear the media is not interested in driving to the truth.  Saying they can't corroborate the claims is very different than conducting a thorough investigation.  They have no more interest in seeing what's on the laptop or thoroughly vetting Bobulinski than Twitter has in allowing the NY Post to get their story out.  And like Twitter, they are suppressing the story, and they wouldn't do that if the story was about Trump with all "corroboration" elements being equal.

Yes, I'm arguing the media is not fair.  And not just a little unfair.  No, I'm making no comparison to Biden vs Trump in regard to character.  Yes, the media is very definitely out to get Trump and has been for Trump's entire presidency.  The media has not only gone after Trump in an unfair way, they have gone after supporters unfairly as well.  The Covington kids is an example.  The media, overtly and continuously, state Trump will not denounce white supremacy when he clearly has.  They claim Trump is a racist over and over again, when he's simply mean (and it doesn't even take that much to bring such a claim).  They will not berate Biden for his many racially absurd comments (nor will the repeat the absurd comments).  They will not give Trump credit for anything.  I don't like Trump.  I don't.  But I do like some of his policy decisions.  I can't stand the way the media conducts its business today.  Fox news is not an exception.  And I can't stand the "progressive" left.  I think Biden was not and may not now be one of them, but I don't believe Biden will be in charge in his own administration should he be elected.  If I thought Biden would be in control - and the nonsense of the last few years would subside, I would vote for Biden.  I think that would be best for the country.  But if Trump wins, at least he won't fundamentally and drastically change America and start over.  That idea scares the hell out of me.  And many others.

The media? The "All Hillary's Email ALL THE TIME" media that never vetted Donald Trump because it thought the Republicans must have taken care of it? The media that gave James Comey so much real estate with his unethical announcement a week before Election Day 2016 and tanked Hillary Clinton's campaign is, "unfair" to "Trump?"

You're trying to say that if there were anything at all plausible about the Hunter Biden Laptop ruse the media wouldn't have run it wall-to-wall? Sure. Okay.

When you use a word like "unfair" you sound either like you're 8 years-old or a member of The CVLT of TRVMP. Do you have a MAGA brand on your pelvic area?

I have no such fixation at all. I AM and always have been very interested in cults and the people who get taken in by them.  This, right here, is an example of cult language: "This is a big news story, false or not..." I find it fascinating. Scary, but fascinating.

But if you think Trump has been preserving the country, then the country isn’t worth preserving.

More grist for the "This is a big news story, false or not" faction!

False. Superfalse. Intense mainstream media coverage.

Will the Trump cult be allowed to read it? Or is it forbidden material to be derided as fake news?
