I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, as every metal music themed discussion board, especially r/Metal, Ultimate Guitar, and Metal Archives, aren't female or LGBTQ+ friendly. In fact, they automatically think you're a dude or display acts of anti-female behavior for all to see if a user reveals they're a woman. Women like myself listen to metal too! Get used to it. Jeez! I know nothing about Broadway, but people in theater wear makeup, so I just had to find a Broadway-themed forum to ask this to avoid being bashed by ignorant metalhead guys.

It's almost Halloween time, and this year, instead of wearing a costume, I wanted to show off my love of black metal by wearing corpse paint, a type of face makeup worn by black metal musicians where the main face is painted white and the features such as undereyes, lips, etc are painted black. In other words, it's kinda like the makeup that the members of KISS wear.

Problem is, I wear glasses, and I'm afraid the paint will get all over the lenses which will humiliate me and make me look less like a metalhead and more like an awkward dweeb masquerading as a metalhead. My friend has a shaved head and she wants to pull off this look as well (She's just about had it with being Eleven from Stranger Things for Halloween EVERY SINGLE YEAR), but doesn't know if it will work.

Alright, makeup professionals! Can we pull off this elaborate makeup? I tried searching for this online first, but it didn't really help. Please help us get our faces painted for a brvtal Zoom meeting on Halloween!

Where Broadway meets metal! The green makeup used in Wicked is a MAC Chromacake. It's super light / not smeary and there's a spray/setting powder they use to prevent it from transferring so much to clothes, other people, and yes, Elphaba's glasses' lenses.

And it comes in white! Clicky

Not sure what setting stuff to use, but someone else might know, or you could search for that type of a product specifically.

And perfect timing - HERE is a new video of how the makeup artist does it.

I mean, it's a little weird that you say you know nothing about Broadway but you came to this forum and not a forum on makeup or special effects makeup but okay...

Apply cream or liquid products in light layers to build up coverage. Work up to it. Don't try to apply it in one thick, opaque layer. This is especially important if you're wearing a product that can dry or set a bit. If you find something like that, try and let it set in between layers. Then set your final layer with a powder. Since you're going for white makeup, I would suggest a setting powder that is white or neutral. Don't go with something in a skin tone shade. You actually don't have to avoid the products that normally cause flashback in photos since your base is white. Makeup Forever HD powder is a pure white and is known for flashback. If you want to go the extra mile and be safe, you can set the black parts of the makeup with black eyeshadow instead of your setting powder. NYX makes a good, very cheap black eyeshadow. It's darker than MAC's Carbon Black, too.

I think it's best to use a makeup product instead of face paint. The face paint is more likely to break down with sweat. It's also paint so when it dries, it will feel tight and itchy and it might crack.
