A friend of mine, a current cast member, posted that the stage show will close at Disneyland. Any idea if there is another show going in? Only using non-union actors?
With all love to the CM's who I certainly don't want to see out of work especially since those parks haven't even reopened yet...to this, I still say good riddance. It was awful and arguably the worst of all 3 productions. The cruise one was the best and that still doesn't say much, because in the end none of them are great.
As for the rest, considering the whole of the Disneyland Resort isn't open yet (except for a phased reopening of Downtown Disney) I figured that would be cut as it's the only 'mainstage' show in either park, and therefore the most expensive. And DL isn't an Equity Park like 'World', it's AGVA. I believe they'd have to sever ties with AGVA to hire non union.
EDIT-I forgot about Mickey and the Magical Map...it's also closing.

Disneyland still doesn't know when they'll be able to reopen, I doubt they are making plans to bring in a new show, union or not.

There was no reason for your negativity in the beginning. None. People are losing their livelihoods. Choose kindness. I for one LOVED this show, especially due to its diversity. When I saw it, Anna was Black and Elsa was Asian. I teared up a bit thinking about all the little Black and Asian girls in the audience seeing themselves onstage. And their VOICES. Incredible. Hard to believe they had to perform multiple times a day and still sounded so pristine. We in the Broadway “community” tend to look down on theme park performers, but there are MANY theme park performers who are worthy of the Broadway stage. Some have actually chosen to perform at theme parks instead of pursuing a Broadway career. I feel terribly for everyone losing their jobs during this time.
I found this production to be far better than the Broadway adaptation — a more climatic "Let It Go" and a more heartfelt ending with the "Love Is An Open Door" reprise, plus an astounding amount of representation among the very talented cast. A shame.
It's worth noting that the folks who perform on AGVA contracts at Disneyland are often also Equity performers who also perform at most of the major regional theaters in Southern California. Among the cast of Frozen at DCA were performers who had credits at regional theaters across the country, major national tours, and Broadway. For actors who have home bases outside of New York, theme park work can be a functional survival job, while still performing in between other projects.

Have they said that? I thought this info was coming from cast members who were notified that their status was changing from "furloughed" to "laid off." I think it's more a cost-cutting measure and human resources policy than a notification that the shows are gone for good. I wouldn't be surprised to see them back once attendance picks up. Maybe in a slightly less costly form (no flying, smaller casts.)

All of my friends who worked on the shows at Disneyland have all used "closing" to describe the notice they were given.

They don't typically announce closures because it's negative news. Same thing happened when they shut down the Red Car Trolley Newsboys last year. People found out about it from cast members posting on social media.
I'm ok with Frozen closing since we still have a National Tour but Mickey and the Magical Map hurts. That was my favorite show at DLR next to the Newsboys. They had built that screen specifically for that show so hopefully that will come back once things pick up again. Hopefully these cast members can find other work at the parks in the interim. It does seem like reopening is imminent.
