Chad's now been featured on Breitbart. You can go find it yourself if you like!

Also wanted to add: No one is going to casually run into Chad Kimball (or basically any other folks from the Broadway community) IRL anytime soon and into next year. Lots of people have already lost their jobs and are probably in a "haven't got anything else to lose" mentality. There are fewer consequences for speaking out at this time — for better or for worse (IMO for better).

Sounds absolutely awful - I know I could never, ever be friends with her. However, I also recognise that as a performer & singer I absolutely love Ebersole and would be devastated if she was 'cancelled' because of her odd (and in some cases depending on what level in society decisions are made as a result of it, dangerous) beliefs and we missed out on a great performance. I am paying for her to enterain and move me not give me a science lesson!

I assume Ebersole knows how to keep her mouth shut because she even managed to work with Patti LuPone. During War Paint I remember Patti & Ebersole were asked about the political situation (if I recall) and Ebersole declined to answer asking Patti to. So again evidence to me that Ebersole probably knows to keep it to herself.

Let's just say the role was very interesting for me. That one was the most interesting [I've ever played]" - Bernadette Peters (2018)

Kimball may be a hypocritical fundamentalist pushing dangerous health advice, but we mustn't speak poorly of his performance in Memphis.

Nope, unless we're no longer allowed to call out bad performances

Thanks for posting this. It is good. My only question is what plan is he wanting? Just my opinion, but he seems to contradict himself a bit. I assume he has not had access to plans  being worked on by the League and the unions. It's kind of hard to come up with a plan when opening dates keep moving and they are faced with some roadblocks. I suspect we will see a plan when we have a more concrete date for opening.

Sharon Wheatley, his co-star, tweeted this..What a hypocrite and one of the reasons why we can't have theatre back https://twitter.com/sswheatley/status/1328086639395147788

He privated his twitter a year or two ago but Jordan Craig who played Raoul for a good amount of the recent Phantom tour has a crap ton of horrible Twitter likes praising Trump., including tweets from the Trump family.  A lot of them come from an actor named Brian Cloudus who apparently started that famous outdoor theater company in Atlanta with a real life helicopter in Miss Saigon and was kicked out for racism . This Brian guy has so much conspiracy crap. Also , Jordan has lots of likes from the few conservatives in showbiz like Kirstie Alley and Joy Villa.  There's one antimask retweet buried somewhere...He had a few anti-Hillary retweets in 2016  if I remember correctly but stopped right after the election except for an occasional retweet here and there over the years. I've never seen him write a political thing on IG and had no idea until one of my Phantom Phan buddies told me.  Every other actor I can think of who's been in that production are democrats..................

Can he really be fired for this though? His castmates came after him on Twitter, but what legal ways can they talk AEA into making sure he doesn't return to the show?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

He can’t really be fired for this, no. The producers can opt not to renew his contract, though. They also could let him go and pay out his contract, but I really doubt that would happen- it’d be a mess.

I suppose if it creates an untenable work environment, it could become a just cause situation- but there’s no work.

Technically speaking, they are all fired at the moment. Like literally every actor on Broadway.

I can't imagine that ANY actor on Broadway will not have an expired contract by the time Broadway returns. So technically speaking, producers can decline to have renew his contact with him. I don't know if I would call that being "fired" unless of course the union fights for some kind of deal to be made between producers and actors about the contacts to protect everyone's rehire status. That is something I am sure we will be hearing about more in the springtime.

There is of course no precedent for any of this, and I have no idea what special deals might be struck. As a general proposition, I believe technically all contracts can and probably have been terminated (with term contracts paying out in due course so needless to say not a factor for the amount of time involved here) and anything that follows being a reopening. Now as said it is possible that some alternative will be worked out and maybe has been, with some concessions etc. Absent that, to my knowledge, everything is on a blank slate. Maybe someone knows something actually cuz I don't.

I probably don’t have any information that you don’t have, but the few general managers/assistant GMs I’ve been in contact with have all more or less been saying that they’re going to approach everything as if it were a new show opening.

I get it. I do. But I just can’t, in good faith, cancel someone in this current climate. I actually met him at a janky Hell’s Kitchen rooftop party when he was in Memphis and he was totally cool. So I don’t know! I don’t do Twitter.

You had one nice interaction with him and this "climate" makes you hesitant?

Sure, people are on edge right now and social media can amplify emotion, but as Jordan said, bad people can be nice. (Like, your neighbor who waters your plants for you can still vote in a way that doesn't serve your interests.)

Gosh, I am looking more into these like social media head hunters out there trying to 'out all the Broadway republicans' and I'm just like... damn... quarantine really has made people go stir crazy, ain't it?

Look. This tiny rant is directed SPECIFICALLY at people trying to make a blacklist of Broadway actors people should shun or attack on social media based SOLEY on how they are registered to vote.

Just because someone is register for a particular political party does not mean they voted for are even depending on how long ago they have been registered to vote that they even SIDE with that party at the moment. Especially here in the good ol' 2020 hell we live in. I mean last time I had to register to vote was back in 2012. Think about how much the two parties have changed in that amount of time. Think how much they have changed in just the last 4 years. Someone that registered back then might still be signed up with one side or the other but that doesn't have to be 'with' them. My father, registered his whole life as a republican. Hasn't voted republican since 2008 and in fact has had a falling out with some folks because they voted red this year and he no longer wants to associate with them. A theatre kid former co-worker of mine, registered democrat. Hasn't voted democrat even longer. In fact when he told me he was a registered democrat I did a double take because he is the furthest thing from you typical "average democrat" that I think you could ever find.

It's about what they do and what they say so yes please feel free to out those that have done things like Kimball here with saying insensitive and controversial things or proof they have given money towards monsters.. here's a pen, put 'em on the blacklist. But don't hold a registration card over someone's head if you have no proof of any kind of poor choices other than checking a box once upon a time when they registered to vote.
