Naya Rivera is presumed dead after going missing during a boating trip with her four-year-old son, Josey.

The Ventura County Sheriff is reporting that the 33-year-old actress had rented a boat for herself and her son’s summer trip at Lake Piru at about 1 p.m. this afternoon however, Josey was found in the boat alone three hours later.

A search began immediately after officials were notified of her disappearance, with the use of helicopters, drones and dive teams.

Josey apparently told authorities that he and his mother went swimming, but his mother never got back into the boat. He was found in the boat alone three hours later wearing a life vest.

Additionally, Naya‘s car was found in the parking lot with her purse inside. An NBC LA journalist has reported that Ventura County Sheriff Dept. says she is “presumed dead.”

A friend of mine who is a fortune teller said that a curse had been put the Glee cast and I am beginning to think it is true. She said it had been brought on by secrets and deception. So many of them have either died or their Futures have been ruined.

The saddest part of this is an adult thinking that leaving a boat to go for a swim when you’re the only two people on board is a safe thing to do. That’s reckless.

I think the saddest part of this is that a person may have died.

SmoothLover, I’m not doubting that for a minute.

I’m praying they’ll find her. Poor baby.

This is just awful.

I hope she is found alive but hope must be fading.

That Glee cast curse is brutal.

I hope she is found alive...no child should be without a mother.

That poor little boy probably watched his mother drown.

I've seen friends rent small boats in lakes in the summer and are fine. Naya at the very least put the lifevest on her son so that he would be safe.

From reading the article she had another purse that she brought with her to the boat  (from the original post I thought it was odd that a woman would leave her purse inside her car.)

I hate to say it, but the Daily Mail article makes it sound like this wasn't an accident.

Glad you know this is what actually happened.

I’m not a fan of Glee and I don’t know Rivera very well, but this is just awful. Hopefully they find her alive, but I fear the chances of that happening are slim.

Why would a curse have been put upon the cast of "Glee?"

That poor little boy.  I don't know if a four year old has a concept of time.   But can you imagine that child sitting on that boat wondering where is mommy and is she coming back?  How sad.

Which is more important? That we sentimentalize a person who has apparently passed? Or that we point out the unfortunate judgment that caused her passing?

Somebody somewhere may benefit from the latter.

I think the biggest issue with the original post was the level of snark involving the decisions Rivera made, when in actuality, this was a freak accident that could happen to anyone. Can we learn from this? Sure. But calling her reckless is absolutely inappropriate at this current moment. Plus, a very young child lost his mother while alone in a boat. That's a horrible, very fresh wound in many people's hearts right now and being respectful seems to be the LEAST we could do at this moment.

The level of snark is determined by the reader. I didn't write that with snark. I was angry. If this was an accident it was totally avoidable.

You don't know that, or anything about this situation. Jesus. Stop JUDGING her. Accidents happen and it's nobodies fault. Take your anger elsewhere, it's not wanted in this thread, clearly, as five respectable posters called you out.
