I am VERY tempted to see Godspell as I've got cousins in the area who never miss a show there during normal times, and I often join them.

I wonder what this might mean for using a theatre like the Delacorte here.

Since Berkshire's is paying to quarantine all the actors together in a house and then transporting them to the venue, it would be very expensive / logistically crazy to do the same at the Delacorte. And there are only a few entrances to the Delacorte, so getting the audiences into the theater would be more challenging than spacing them out, plus bathroom management, concessions, box office...

This is a long way to say I'm extremely confident there won't be any theater in NYC until 2021.

Oh I’m sure there won’t be either, but it was just a thought.

whatever happened to the massive renovation that was announced? Am I not remembering some change in that plan? This would be a perfect time for it.

Aside from that, no, a show there is not going to happen this year but no it would not be logistically or otherwise impossible. First, it would have to be a small show that does not require close blocking (a quarantine is not a viable option and I think it is pretty silly anywhere; at a minimum you would be significantly compromising on talent.) Second, IF there were to be a show, the audience would be very limited, small enough to make access as well as not crawling over people a non-issue. But to repeat, no it is not going to happen.

I don't know how everyone else feels, but when theatre reopens one day... I will wait a little longer still to go. I want to see what people's experiences are, if it causes any issues, and for kinks to be worked out.

I'm attending Godspell on August 7th. It's selling pretty well, so I know people are eager to watch live theater again. I am nervous but very confident in the theater's many, many things they have done for us to have a safe, outside experience.

It is also probably too late for 2020..  With no plans already in progress, I can't imagine anything being produced before it starts to get cold, unless they take a small cast play already on hiatus and try to rush it through.

I believe you have mentioned that you have health issues.  If so, this is a really smart decision for you to make.  Good luck.

I'm not seeing any (official) news about change of plans –– or any news, design plans, timeline since the original announcement in Fall 2018. The current financial situation facing non-profits is probably the biggest hurdle. $20m of $100m had been raised as of the original announcement. It was supposed to begin this fall for completion ahead of the Summer 2022 season.

BCfitasafiddle, same for me. It's like how you don't buy a new appliance. I'm going to wait for it to blow up in someone else's face for the first recall.

Thank you for your concern. Yes, I had serious health issues. I died on the operating table on Feb. 19, 2019 after a fierce allergic reaction to anaesthesia. After being hospitalized for 6 months I've had to teach myself to walk again and I'm working with a throat specialist to get my vocal chords working properly  after having tubes in them for 5 months. I'm being very cautious these days.. The good news is that the ordeal had me lose 70 lbs and I'm now a dead-ringer for JustinTrudeau!
