If you do exchange your ticket through the exchange link, you will be charged on your credit card for the new date, and receive a refund for the original one. It's a very easy process and Telecharge is always very, very good with issuing refunds - for whatever reason. Whenever I have refunded tickets, it's always been very quick and easy."

How long does it usually take? I asked for a refund yesterday without exchanging because it's too far in advance for me.

I requested a refund, and the webpage that confirmed the request (not on Telecharge) said

"Want to check the status of your request?

  1. Go to your Telecharge Order Status page.
  2. Enter your email address and order number.
  3. Look for the Delivery Instructions section and see if it says "Your tickets have been cancelled." This means your refund has been facilitated!
  4. Your bank may take 10 days or longer to process the refund. Look for a credit from Telecharge Services on your statement."

That time frame would be pretty much in line with how long it took for refunds to process when my shows in May were cancelled.

Thanks so much for the info! It says the feature isn't available on the site right now, but I'll keep checking.

I originally had tickets for 12/2; Telecharge moved them to 6/30, which didn't work for me, so I exchanged for September.  I'm really happy with this because I got slightly better seats, and I definitely prefer coming to NYC in September rather than December or June!

When I put in my info into the site it still isn't working for me. I wonder if anyone else is having that issue.

I'm in the same boat. Initially had tickets for Friday 10/23, my date is now 5/14 which is the last week of previews. I'm not 100% sure what to expect as I've never been to a broadway show during previews, but I'm tempted to try and flex out of it for a later date that's after the official opening. Can anyone weigh in on this? Any risk Hugh/Sutton won't be performing during previews or that there will be large scale differences in the show/experience?

Welp I just swapped out for Saturday 5/29. Was able to get the same seats we had before, third row (row A), 107 and 108. I'm annoyed that the same seats I had were $100 more each than I initially paid, but I'm going to email them and see if there's anything to be done about that. I think it's weird they swapped a weeks worth of tickets from full opening to a week of previews.

If anyone is looking to exchange for decent $99 seats after opening, left mezzanine aisle seats in rows E-G are available for Sunday, 5/23.

I saw Sutton in Anything Goes during the middle of previews. I distinctly remember sitting there at intermission thinking, "She's going to win the Tony." The show was exactly the same as seeing it after opening. Especially going late in previews, they've usually worked out any major kinks. There's no higher risk of Hugh or Sutton missing because it's a preview compared to a regular show.

5/14 should be one of the first "frozen" performances, and critics will be there to review the show. For all intents and purposes, you'll be seeing it exactly as it'll be on opening night. Another plus is that principal cast members don't miss shows during press week. For this reason, I almost exclusively see shows during the last week of previews. There's a far better chance of absences after opening.

Absolutely. Also, Music Man is already such a well-known and admired piece that Jerry Zaks may not even make notable changes for this old-fashioned revival, if any. Most/all of their previews could already be more-or-less "frozen." Original musicals tend to see more significant changes made during the preview period.

Based on what Scott Rudin said when he gave the interview to Hollywood Reporter announcing the revival, he is promising a more spectacular version. They had a long workshop ( close to a month?) in September 2019 ( which seems to have focused on the dance aspects) and another one  later on( 2 weeks or so with Hugh and Sutton in February 2020), Looking forward to this --

""When you take on one of the 10 or so great, beloved titles, you're trying to do the urtext version of it," he continued. "That's what I think we did with Dolly and what we're going to do here. We're going to do it in a way that no one has ever seen it before. It's going to be big and beautiful and super-luxe and gorgeous and incredibly romantic, and very much in the world of why the show has lasted for 60 years."

So, I signed up on the musical's website in order to get the advance tickets on July 23rd.  I thought it said it was supposed to start at 10 AM (I assume that was Eastern Time as the website did not specify.) I sent my email to get notifications, and assume it went through. (I did not get a confirmation.) Now I don't see any information on the musical's website about the advance sale today.

If this doesn't work, I'll just have to try tomorrow when the tickets go on sale to the public.  I'm hoping I can get something decent for my girlfriend and I around the time of my birthday next year, July 1st.  Has anyone heard anything?  Is the presale still going to happen today, even though there's no info on the website?

Yeah, I was also waiting for the presale info to be emailed. They did seem to remove all references to the presale and regular on-sale (tomorrow) from the site. MUSIC MAN Seems To Have Been Rescheduled For April 2021

Just checked Telecharge. It says tickets aren’t currently on sale and to check back on 7/24.

Now Telecharge just says tickets are closed except for current ticket holders.  Nothing about July 24th.  Also no info on the musical's website.

This kind of concerns me.  I really hope they're just rescheduling the day the tickets will go on sale again.

I called them and they said no new tickets are going on sale for that. She couldn't give me a new date when they will be on sale. Maybe she's mistaken but she did not see anything. MUSIC MAN Seems To Have Been Rescheduled For April 2021

The Music Man's website does have the following piece of information posted on their "Important Ticket Information" page: "If you wish to exchange your seats for a different performance, this will need to be done by midnight on JULY 23, 2020. After this point, all remaining seats will be released for sale to the general public."

It sounds like tickets might be going on sale tomorrow, 7/24, although, based on Sutton's post, maybe that's not the case. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

What Sutton reported is not inconsistent with that. Also, "[a]fter this point" does not necessarily mean exactly at that point. Patience.

When you go to the "Find Tickets" tab, there's a pop-up which says "Tickets for THE MUSIC MAN are only available for current ticket holders needing to exchange for a new date." It used to also say to come back on July 24th to purchase tickets, but that was removed today, suggesting that it's no longer happening tomorrow.

That information has been on that page since the day they announced the new dates.

I wonder if it’s possible they got a deluge of people requesting refunds at the last minute and need a few more days. I know I requested my refund very late. I had been indecisive because I didn’t like my date, but didn’t want to spend an extra $200 to “exchange” them for similar seats to what I already had. Nothing was showing as available for less than $550. On Tuesday, it finally clicked that they purposely weren’t showing me any options for less than that and that based on other people’s experiences, there must be lower priced tickets available. So I requested my refund and figured I could try again when they go on sale to the public or just wait and see how things play out in the long-run. I actually felt a bit relieved to let them go. I just got the email today that they processed the refund.
