Michael Urie is one of the greatest actors we have and very underrated. Saw him do it live years ago and loving it again now.

Loving it as well, especially the updates since I saw it live in 2013.  The Gypsy stuff happening right now is inspired.

He was as good as, if not better than, he was when he did this off-Broadway. I'm thoroughly impressed at how seamless that was! Bravo, Michael.

That was truly wonderful. I got to see it live as well, but to do this in a living room, by himself. Bravo!!!!!!

It was fantastic. One of the only live-streamed performances thus far has entirely worked.

I've loved the script for years, but missed all of the original runs with Urie. This was truly a gift tonight.

As Kad said - this is the first livestream theatrical event that has truly worked. I loved the second camera at the table.

I was completely blown away by this. Thanks to Jordan Catalano and the others here on BWW who explained to me what live streaming was and how to make my donation

I appreciate your help.

I never saw the show live, but I have the recording from the Westport Country Playhouse on my DVR, and I've watched it many times. I didn't think it was possible, but I think I liked the livestream even more. For me, there was something about the extreme closeups and his talking directly to the camera that added something very special to the material. It really was a magical performance.

I saw it live with Michael as well. It was even better with the close-up shots and I’m very impressed that he either re-learned it for this broadcast or he never forgot it. I saw two or other three actors tackle the show and they all were fine but no one can hold a candle to Michael’s performance. I sort of pictured Barbra Streisand and James Brolin at home watching it tonight. It was rumored she was going to see it in LA right after she saw Bette Midler as her former agent. But then she said that she heard it was not kind to Jason so she wouldn’t watch it. I have the script whenever this lockdown is lifted and I’ll have to look but there was really nothing negative about Jason Gould. So I don’t know if they cut something or there never was anything disturbing. Or did it just go over the top of my head?

I was at a party with Jason Gould myself once but never saw him there. Later watching his aunt Roslyn do her cabaret show I looked at the table next to me and there was Jason.

I saw the closing performance in NYC Off- Broadway with Barrett Foa, who was great. But I’m so glad I got this opportunity tonight to see Mr. Urie. So wonderful. I’ve been in a funk all week but this presentation made me rise up. Theatre! God, how I miss it.

If you weren’t already a huge fan of Michael Urie, you would be after watching this. I think he is a truly incredible actor. He’s totally believable and winning. This particular play and actor combined with the smartly executed direction and camera blocking made this livestream something special. Nothing felt off about him telling this story via a webcam in his living room. If you hadn’t previously seen a stage version of this play (I saw Michael do it at Barrow Street), the play seems made for this format. Bravo!

Tonight also reminded me how Urie was robbed of a Tony nomination for TORCH SONG.

Count me in as a new Urie fan! This brightened my week, it made me laugh so hard. Loved every minute of this...and now wish I saw it live.

Previously, I was mostly familiar with him on “ Ugly Betty” - never liked the show and never liked his character . But then I saw his guest appearances on “ The Good Fight” and enjoyed him immensely  - now I can’t wait to see him in future projects. A true comic genius in theater.

He is definitely a comedic genius, but it’s his ability to also nail the softer, more heartfelt moments that impresses me most. Not many can do both as effectively. He’s brilliant.

I don't recall seeing Urie before.  He was great.  Was the Ferris Bueller bit at the end part of the original play, or was it added just for this?

Broadway.com is doing great work during the shutdown with these performances.  Lips Together, Teeth Apart was also wonderful. More, please!

Now I'd like to see Urie play a "straight" character. I'm wondering what he might bring to a role like Nick in VIRGINIA WOOLF or Tom in THE GLASS MENAGERIE (not exactly "straight" but not overtly gay, either)

That was wonderful last night.  Dollypop asked about seeing him in a straight role - A couple of years ago, he played Hamlet here in DC. He was terrific!  I also saw him a few years ago in The Government Inspector odff Broadway, and he was great in that too.  A truly gifted actor. Bravo!

The fact that there was no audience also added a real sort of intimacy to the show that I’d never seen before and I think really added to it.
