I compile a list of my favorite albums of the year at the end of every year. This year perhaps due to being home with more time to really focus on music without distraction and so many releases with a high caliber of music, it’s going to be a longer list than in recent years. Still finalizing it and I won’t be necessarily ranking them but right now I’d still say Fiona Apple’s is the best of the year with some close contenders.

Southern Cakes, you may enjoy the debut Paris Jackson album "Wilt"  (Yes, Michael's daughter). It was just released. Am listening as I type. Kind of an indie vibe to it. Mostly slow. I like the song "Cosmic". The first single off of it is called "let down" which I also like and she is performing live on Kimmel, as I type!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new Miley.  Every song.  Based on the Midnight Sky video, I don't understand why Hollywood hasn't cast her as a drug addicted club singer with a cruel and abusive boyfriend. I think she could act the hell out of it.   If you are reading this Hollywood and go forward, I want my cut.

If they ever remake "The Rose", she could do it.

 

I have been listening to the "Jingle Jangle" soundtrack from the Netflix movie. It is actually a really nice stand alone recording.

Just looked him up. The entire EP is not on my service but found him on You Tube. Cool music. I like the song "Like A Bird".

Finally finished composing my best of the year list. It was much longer than it has been in the years past. I guess a new thread should be created.....but for those interested in vinyl and Janet Jackson, Target is releasing Janet Jackson Number Ones with a two lp red colored set on Friday.

Wow, didn't know that. I am still waiting for this new album. She was supposed to release it during her "Black Diamond" tour. I had a ticket to see her this past July at MSG. I am wondering if she is just going to hold the album back until she can go out on tour.

Uncageg, I usually get my info on release dates by going on 2020 (or now 2021) new music releases wikipedia.  It isn't even listed anymore.  Even under the date TBD.  I think it has been shelved.  There isn't one release listed under 2021, so far, that I would purchase.

I suspect we will see it at some point. She finished it early last year. The plan was to release the first single early on in the tour and the entire album during the tour. I think she is just waiting until concerts start back. Since artists don't make a lot on album sales these days, it makes sense that she may be waiting. They make their money off of the concert tours. I suspect she will want the music fresh in fans' minds when she tours the album.
