I saw tonight that Sing Street's original broadway cast recording is being released on May 15th. have any other musicals that were postponed / delayed announced any? The other new musicals this season without Broadway cast recordings include Diana, Flying Over Sunset, Girl from the North Country, Mrs. Doubtfire, Tina and Six, as well as the revivals of Company, West Side Story and Caroline, or Change. Anyone know if any of these productions got their albums recorded in time before the shutdown?

Originally Sing Street was in mid April but put off now til May and I suspect it will be pushed back further.

They need studios for that. They can't access those right now. So I doubt we'll get any new recordings any time soon.

Girl From The North Country announced on April 15 that their cast album was coming "this spring". Wondering if anybody has heard any updates. While I didn't full on love the actual show, I could listen to that extraordinary cast sing those incredible arrangements on an endless loop.

SIX already has the world premiere cast recording, which is highly popular, so I don’t know if the Broadway production is going to bother recording one (especially since, I’m reading anecdotes from those who saw it, they do away with their British accents.

With TINA, I suspect the London cast recording will also stand because the main artist for the show is Adrienne Warren, and unless it’s just to represent the new artists on Broadway, it doesn’t make sense to re-record an entire album that is mostly sung by Adrienne

They recorded it ages ago, while they were still off Broadway.

The answer to that seems fairly obvious. It was recorded before the quarantine became a thing.

Sing Street is a fun listen. This will be interesting to see if Broccoli decides to keep it on B'way.

Diana had also announced they were recording a cast album pre-shutdown. To release one would be a waste of money, in my honest opinion, as they likely won't officially open next year.

Tina does not need to re-record (Warren carried most of the load as well in London). If Six reopens, I would hope they record a live Broadway cast album to capture the "concert" feel of the show. On Your Feet! failed miserably with album production, but Passing Strange turned out to be a better live option. Six could go either route...

And, like many, I can hardly wait for Flying Over Sunset. So eager to hear more of Kitt and Korie's beautiful score. Hoping this reopens too... it should help that a nonprofit is producing and they could have more flexibility with their schedule.

The Passing Strange album is so low energy though. Almost like they asked the audience to be quiet.

Girl From The North Country recorded their album but it has to be mixed. They’d be smart to fast track that as things open up, if it’s not being done so remotely already.

with social distancing i feel like recording in studios would actually be kind of easy for soloists, it would be group numbers that might be difficult. there's only a few people that need to be in any room at any given moment.

Honestly, the only cast recording of "Six" I'm really interested in would be one with the original off-West End/West End cast. Although, 2 of the 6 queens are on the studio recording, so I don't think so. I think that the recording was made to preserve the show. Also, with the West End cast being what it was in the fandom, I feel like we might only get foreign language recordings if anything.

Might need to fact check this, but I'm pretty sure that Cry-Baby closed in 2007 without a cast recording. Then, 8 or 9 years later, they recorded and released one with the original Broadway cast. Don't know how or why, but if anyone can shed some light on that, it'd be appreciated :)

I feel like the US Six Cast is more likely to get some type of live recording, something like "Six: Live on Broadway." I do hope the US queens get some type of recording, because they're all quite stunning.
