For any fans of I DO! I DO!, in the end I had success ordering the recording from RobertsVideos. Ended up loving the recording & the show!
It inspired me to put together a production since this piece seems perfect for a small group to undertake in these times... this was done in New Jersey, but is available to anyone online. If anyone is a fan of I DO! I DO! &/or wants to see a new (and virtual) musical movie, he's a link through which you can rent this new I DO! I DO! for 48-hours anytime between April 16th, 2021 & May 16th, 2021.
Hello, I came across a copy of this from 1982 today via a VHS (BETA) Tape (still sealed) and was curious about the the video and searched for reviews. I'm anxious to watch it but reluctant to open a sealed copy of it... any thoughts? Thanks for posting all this info, it's really great! Thanks CathyTony
Lee Remick and Hal Linden take on the roles of Agnes and Michael in I DO! I DO!, the musical adaptation of THE FOURPOSTER, which follows 50 years of marriage of a couple and the bumps they encounter along the way in married life. Mary Martin and Robert Preston originated these roles on Broadway and made this two-person musical a unique and enjoyable musical experience and that is the problem with this adaptation...this musical was truly meant for the stage and it definitely looses something being transferred to the TV screen. The score by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt (THE FANTASTICKS) includes "I Love My Wife", "Love Isn't Everything", "Nobody's Perfect", and the classic "My Cup Runneth Over." Remick and Linden work hard in their roles. Remick shines especially when she lets loose on the showstopping number "Flaming Agnes", but this musical is definitely better suited for the stage.
