“Hello, folks.  Rita and I are down here in Australia.   We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches.   Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too.  To play things right, as is needed in the world right now,  we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now.  What to do next?  The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.  Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated.

Take care of yourselves!” – Tom Hanks

Hope they get better, I think they are both in their 60's so this could be serious.

The difference being they can afford the best doctors on the planet. I think they'll be fine. A COVID-19 diagnosis is not a death sentence.

And, and far as we know, they are in good health.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

So you're saying the poor can get sick and the rich don't have to worry---the comments are becoming more stupid than peoples' reactions.

I don't understand your contention, healthcare and wealth go hand-in-hand. The more money one has, the better treatment one can get. Many people can't even get tested for coronavirus without healthcare, so lack of wealth will cause major suffering. Very skewed on which demographic is more likely to recover from the virus.

The healthy will recover while all wait for a vaccine.

and while I'm being grumpy, I will never understand the point of posting the above message.

i dont think that was his/she intention in the post it was just referring to the fact that the Hanks family is well covered in this circumstance compared to others. Hanks is in Australia filming a movie which has Warner Brothers invested in his health. It's sad but Warner/Hanks money goes a long way in making sure Tom is taken care of more than the average citizen who would be facing this

Look at the NBA players who are all being tested as we speak for this after Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz tested positive. Can we say the same treatment is being given to the arena workers cleaning up the arena?

They are in Australia not the USA! Money may give a small advantage but not the difference between life and death. Good quality pubic healthcare accessible to all.

They have only been in Australia one week so Australian officials have stated they contracted the virus in the U.S. or en route.

A vaccine is 12 - 18 months away...

Aren't you Australian? Where you have free public healthcare?

Clearly you don't know the dire straits of the American health system.

the extremely rich have access to the best doctors money can buy. That shouldn't be a surprise.

My apologies to all for for my flippant attitude toward this serious virus that attacks all demographics.

Scientists in all countries are united in working together to find a cure.

Stay healthy.
