Does this theater usually have a lottery or rush policy, or do they often put tickets up at the last minute? I'm interested in seeing the show, but it's sold out on the dates I'll be in town.

Very doubtful.  You can always check of course, but it's a very small theatre, and if the entire run is sold out more than a month before it begins performances, I can't imagine they're holding any seats back.

Nope, every single date is sold out. They offer tickets occasionally for shows that are not selling extremely well, but this show isn't one of them. Your best bet is to get tickets for the 3 week extension next week, when it will more than likely sell out again.

I’m really hoping that the news or the extension means business will be good enough for a cast album. There’s some really great singers in this cast, and if their work here will be as good as I expect it to be, I get the feeling I’ll want to listen to them doing this music over and over.

I would actually say it's not quite so hopeless.

Most shows at CSC offer either rush or lottery on TodayTix during the initial run, and they tend to get at least a couple folks in through the in-person rush, even when performances are sold out.

That said, this is their hottest ticket in lord knows how long, so things may look a bit different.

Why is this such a hot ticket? Just the collection of acting talent? Personally, Pasquale is the draw for me. He's must see in any singing role.

The combination of Sondheim, the cast, and the show itself.

And I forgot to mention the fact that CSC has only 199 seats. Limited seating for a limited run often equals a hot ticket, and even more so in this case.

Demand for this show has caused tickets to go up from $59 to $87 - $150 for the extension.

Anyone else think this might be gearing up for a transfer to broadway this fall during the presidential election....Maybe to The Booth...it’d be all too perfect.

I also get the feeling this’ll end up on Broadway. The show has probably never felt more timely than it is right now, it’s been a long time since it’s last revival, they have an all star cast, business is already really good based on ticket sales, so good that it’s extended, and so on. It feels like there’s a lot of signs pointing to this appearing on Broadway. As I’ve said before, I’m really hoping for a cast album, as there’s so many great performers in this revival, I can’t help but feel like the music is really gonna soar (although I’m slightly cautious towards Brandon Uranowitz playing a bass-baritone, but I love the guy so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt). If this ends up on Broadway, then I’m sure an album will happen. Even if it doesn’t, I feel like it could end up happening anyway.

This cast is perfect for a transfer, but I think a lot will depend on reviews. Doyle’s recent Pacific Overtures wasn’t very well received at CSC.

Something is giving me a feeling that these names wouldn't have signed on if there wasn't at least a small chance of this transfering.

Unless you're saying the entire house is $150 for the extension, this is inaccurate. Tickets were $87 for the entire house during the initial run ($82 during previews), save for a few premium seats set aside at $125 – a far smaller number than other theaters set aside, to CSC's credit.

Anyhow, the seemingly strong demand for Company could also be a good sign for this transferring. But I agree that it of course all hinges on the actual reception once this opens.

It's completely accurate. The extension ticket prices are $87 - 150. The original run had $59 tickets, which I have two of. Just reporting what the box office guy told me about this extension (which is not the final extension).

I hope everyone gets a chance to see this, the cast is top notch!

There's never been much of a demand for Pacific Overtures by anyone outside of the most die hard Sondheim fans.

Or, more likely, many of them signed on BECAUSE it was a limited engagement.

I disagree with that line of reasoning. Plenty of "Broadway" actors also work Off-Broadway all the time in things that don't transfer. There's especially a lot of crossover with musicals. Work is work. And the material, the company, and the director are all high-profile, so they would have no reason to see it as "beneath" them even if there are no plans to transfer. And with respect to Steve Pasquale, Brandon Uranowitz, etc. they aren't big enough names to be turning down a high profile Off-Broadway production simply on the basis of its Broadway prospects.

I mean, just a few blocks south we'll have Oscar Isaac, Greta Gerwig and Steve Buschemi -- all of whom are much bigger stars than anyone in Assassins -- doing a show Off-Broadway, and early reports say the staging for that show will be unconventional, which implies that it probably isn't being primed for Broadway.

Yeah, most of the actors now sign on for shorters runs anyways, this isn't about Broadway. And yes, work is work.

Right, but if gets reviews along the lines of Doyle’s  Pacific Overtures, It would have less of a chance to transfer, in my opinion.

CSC's whole MO the last few years has been getting high-profile casts to get its productions to sell out a run. It is not indicative of greater plans for a production- it's a small house and they only do a few shows a season. And, frankly, their record of production quality is... questionable.

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

I have to admit I bought into the hype and got a ticket without having seen Assassins or anything by Doyle. This would be my first CSC show. What other CSC productions are you alluding to when it comes to high-profile casts and "questionable" production quality? I know Pacific Overtures had mixed reactions but I wasn't really drawn to that in the first place and didn't pay it any mind.
