Host of "Hardball" on MSNBC. At the beginning of his show, he made a brief announcement, no more than a couple of minutes, then he was gone. It obviously was a surprise to the announcer who followed after commercials. There's a back story, I think, but I don't know what it is.
Multiple sources are reporting there were claim(s) of inappropriate workplace conduct. Ironically and perhaps not coincidentally, The Daily Show put up an Instagram post last week that absolutely skewers Matthews with a 2 minute video showing a number of instances where he has made what some might feel are, at the very least, unnecessary comments on a woman's appearance.
IMO the shame is he turned so very far left and the Obama tingling up his leg comment made him a punchline. I remember seeing him many years ago on the McLaughlin group and I thought that he might be able to be another Tim Russert type. While being a Democrat, he was equally as tough on them as Republicans. He was a Capital police officer at one time and worked in the Peace Corps. Matthews also wrote some very good books, especially about Bobby and Jack Kennedy. In the end, his bad behavior will be what he is remembered for and he has nobody to blame but himself.
My 80 year old dad texted me right after Chris made the announcement. He was aware of the backstory. The text contained the typical invective of men that age who feel that the world has gone bonkers. After I didn't respond to the text immediately, he attempted to FaceTime me which I avoided like an airborne pathogen . I love my old man but at times he's Archie Bunker, George Jefferson, and Rosanne Barr all rolled into one. I just didn't feel like listening to a screed against #MeToo & #TimesUp.
