I don't understand why they buried the fact the show recouped and is planning a West End transfer in their press release, but you do you, Tina Fey. 

I love the movie and I love the musical, so I'm cautiously excited to see what the musical movie looks like when it comes to fruition. 

I also am of the firm believe that "I'll believe it when I see it" in terms of musical movie adaptions, but Tina and Lorne have the money so I'm sure they'll be making fetch (and bank) happen. 

Also, count me among the people who would love a Legally Blonde musical film.

I actually liked the musical, though admittedly a large part of that was that the book did a good job of translating the movie while retaining its most iconic parts. And while the music was just ok, I thought the stellar OBC really elevated the material.

Though I don’t think a movie adaptation of the musical is going to work. Why watch the movie musical when you can simply watch the original movie? Also, it’s not like any of the OBC will be able to reprise their roles on film (though I agree that Renee Rapp probably has a decent shot). This is going to end up like that movie of the Producers musical.

In the article Fey jokes that this is her Marvel Universe, but it’s pretty much true. I think a movie like this, with the power Fey has behind her, could happen much much faster than anyone thinks. In fact, I imagine they would want it out to boost tour sales if the bway show has closed. This just feels to me like they’re letting the world know they don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. Though now that it’s recouped, if it casts correctly, I think it could have a Waitress length run and last another year at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made literal Plastics Barbies and a Mean Girls “experience”. Do I think it will be good? Who knows. But I know the world we’re living in is changing and people are consuming content like crazy and I don’t think this is a bad idea on their end at all.

I’m surprised that this truly awful show has such a following and is getting THIS kind of attention.

Movie adaptation of a musical adapted from a movie? The original film is already a cult/pop culture classic and the musical did nothing to highten the material.

A West End transfer? Yikes.

I saw this post on Instagram as well. Made me really excited until I saw it was a fake casting
