Saw this tonight and I highly recommend it. Everyone was congratulating who I assume was the writer on the way out and he joked give me 8 million dollars so I can put it on broadway, and thats a cheap show! To a friend. Its Very like the concept of & Juliet in London but with original music and a completely different storyline. Its just as fun and has a very talented cast that Im sure were going to see plenty of on broadway in the future. Tickets are only $35 on todaytix and it runs til February 20 as of now.
It also looks like this was at papermill in 2003 with Andy Karl. Did anyone see that production? Im reading in variety it was eyeing broadway at that time.
It looks like this show premiered right before COVID and is getting its official re-opening now? I assumed the reviews from Show-Score are from 2020 so was wondering how the current incarnation is looking.
Another show I was planning to see before the shut down. If I am not mistaken, there was talk of it transferring to Broadway at that point. I know someone in the cast and am planning to see it soon.
It was announced for Broadway pre-pandemic, and then fell through and ended up at ART. I mean, if it's been in the works since 2003, I don't know... that's not a great sign.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I dont think there are current plans....but they can dream.

This show is surprisingly great. I wasn't expecting much going in, but I found it to be pretty fun.
To clear up some things: A.R.T./New York in early 2020 was the original run. It went well and moved to Theatre Row for a true off-Broadway run, which, if I recall correctly, was going to be an indefinite run — kinda like what happens with shows at New World Stages. But then COVID happened.
Now — I don't have the scoop on the details of how — but it's doing the run at 555 with a strong possiblity of a Broadway run, believe it or not. And I have a strong feeling it will manifest.
Stranger things (and Broadway transfers) have happened... But I think the show might have someone connected with deep pockets, as well as producers who desperately want a transfer to happen.
