Was there last night - got the $25 today tix rush and were seated 3rd row center (C8 and C9). I went in completely blind having no clue to the original so cannot comment on changes but after googling a bit it seems a lot has changed. It's very much about her advocacy and pro women rights, pro immigrants, pro-redistribution messages etc. Overall I had a good time and thought the cast was great. Beth Malone was nice to see in a leading lady role after she has talked a lot about having a hard time being taken seriously as a love interest of a man after doing Fun Home. And David Aron Damane as JJ was the other standout to me. The handed out little slips of paper as you went in each with a name and bio of someone from the Titanic. The slip said you were that persons loved one and to remember their names as Molly at Pier 54 will ask you to share info on your loved ones. But all that happened was she called out one persons name (i forgot the name) and was like "Is 'Susans' family here? and a lady in the audience said yes and Molly replied "she's safe, i just saw her in the hospital" or something like that. So I don't know what the point of that was and why I was holding this paper the whole show just for that but it was cool info to read I guess.

The song list from the playbill is:

ACT I

- I Ain't Down Yet

- The Wonderful Plan

- Just Becuz

- I've A'ready Started In

- Bell Up to the Bar Boys

- I'll Never Say No/My Own Brass Bed

- He's My Friend

- Are You Sure?

- Act I Finale

ACT II

- Beautiful People of Denver/The Sacred Thirty-Six

- Share the Luck

- Share the Luck/He's My Friend (reprise)

- I'd Like to Change Everything About You

- Cuppa Tea

- If We Can-Can

- I'd Like to Change Everything About You (Reprise)

- Dolce Far Niente

- The Same Little Chapel

- I May Never Fall in Love With You

- Wait for Me

- Share the Luck (Reprise)

Looks like they haven't made too many changes. That looks to be fairly identical to the song stack in the 2017 MUNY production by the same creative team except they cut "Colorado, My Home" which was in the MUNY production.

I'm seeing this on the Sunday matinee. I know the theater is pretty close to Chinatown -- any recommendations for nearby Chinese restaurants for a pre-show lunch?

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Officially opens tonight, excited to see what critics think! Saw this last night and was really blown away. Beth Malone is a powerhouse and giving a performance for the ages. Is it a perfect show? No. But I was still entertained throughout the entire show and I hope this show does well and gets another life.

A welcome surprise. I had no idea they recorded this.

Has anyone else listened to the album yet? Overall I think it’s enjoyable. Beth Malone is terrific as Molly. My only complaints are that the album begins abruptly with dialogue instead of an Overture. I don’t know if there was an Overture Off-Broadway, but if I remember correctly “Colorado, My Home” was the opening number in the MUNY production and it has been included as a bonus track. I also would have preferred “He’s My Friend” to be a large dance number the way it is in the film version. That song is such a delight in the film, but I understand the goal was likely to repurpose a lot of the songs for the new book. It’s definitely interesting to hear some of these Meredith Willson trunk songs and melodies we may have otherwise never heard. I think “I’d Like to Change Everything About You” is the most enjoyable addition. The lyric by Dick Scanlan is very Irving Berlin, sort of channeling “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better.” Does anyone write songs like that anymore? It’s charming. If anyone is curious the DC Theatre Scene review included a breakdown of the source of each song.
