Unsinkable Molly Brown! |
I really want to see this, but it depends on if I get tickets for Last Week Tonight (I know it's a long shot). The only slot I have open for the trip while this is playing is Sunday night
I attended the first presentation/Reading of this in Denver at the New Play Summit in 2009. Hope to get to see it.
I enjoyed it more than I expected to. At the time, I had a close connection with the Molly Brown House in Denver so knew her whole story. There was a lot of excitement surrounding the reading and I was lucky to get in to see it.
I just purchased my tickets. Kathleen Marshall choreographed and directed two of my most favorite show stoppers (Swing from Wonderful Town and Anything Goes) of all time. I have every confidence that this will be another great experience. I can't wait to see Beth Malone in a larger than life role. I am very excited about this and looking forward to it.
Cannot wait to see this . Already have my ticket. Ms. Malone is a dynamo and the supporting cast looks terrific. I think this will be an interesting and respectful adaptation as I get the feeling that the creatives really love the work! The original had a deeply flawed book so anything is an improvement on that.

Thoughts from the Muny production a few years ago.... Muny Revisal with Beth Malone
Actually, this sounds preachy-awful to me. The original musical was no great shakes, but a revised version emphasizing the feminist-empowerment tropes that are so de rigeur these days in theater seems like a puke-fest to me.
