does anyone know whether Aaron and Karen will be performing this Sunday in MR? I cannot find info anywhere but I would Imagine they might take a show off given the extra tight schedule around the holidays.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I did notice something a few weeks ago when looking for tickets.
I wanted to possibly see MR again the last week in Feb., and when I was looking for tickets on ticketmaster there was a note that said during this performance the role of (I forgot if it was Satine or Christian) will not be played by (Aaron Tviet or Karen Olivio). You might want to check ticketmaster to see what it says. I had never seen this before!
Very few actors are usually given the OK to take time off during the Holidays....so, you will LIKELY be ok, unless illness strikes.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Producers don’t honor time off during the holidays as this is a peak time in ticket sales. You’ll start seeing vacations being taken shortly after the New Year. Everyone is required to do their contracted performances.

There is no such rule or requirement. It's on a show by show basis and depends on what each actor has negotiated.

It's Aaron; he's on vacation the last week of February through March 1. Karen's not doing Tuesday night shows until further notice, though.
But I was surprised by the notice too; the only other time I had seen that was for Tuesday nights/Sunday matinees when Donna Murphy went on for Hello, Dolly!
It's pretty common actually, it was very convenient when they told me when Laura Benanti, Ben Platt, Jonathan Groff, etc would be out of their shows. Good to know that about Aaron.
I don't think Karen will ever do Tuesday night shows again, her contract is up in July. She has a spotty attendance record unfortunately. But, her understudies are dynamite.
Karen Olivo will not be performing the role of Satine on Tuesday evenings, with the exception of the following Tuesdays when she will perform: February 18 and February 25.
Ms. Olivo will also not be appearing on Monday evenings December 23 and December 30; or on Wednesday evening, February 12.
Karen Olivo is on vacation from January 21-26.
Aaron Tveit is on vacation from February 25-March 1.
Buy the tickets! Aaron's performance is as dull as a doorknob and he has no chemistry with Karen, so you're likely better off seeing his understudy. I, personally, look forward to seeing who their replacements will be to see if that show can get a hint of passion that it deserves.
Not dull in the least. He is beautiful and exciting in the role. Their chemistry is obvious, and their talent in insane. The principal are always better than the understudies, so I'd wait for Aaron!
Saw the show last night, on X-mas. Everyone was on fire! Austin Durant as Zidler was excellent. Karen Olivo is simply fantastic. Satine has some pretty hokey stuff, and as I was watching all I could think was that far in the future when this is being done by regional and amateur theater groups, it is going to come across as very silly. But Olivo sells it all. I thought that she is better than Nicole in the film. I thought the whole show was better than the film. Another thing I was thinking about, was who could come in as replacements in a year's time once Tveit and Olivo are ready to leave? Does anyone know what Matthew James Thomas, from the 2013 Pippin, has been doing lately? Could he be a good replacement for Tveit?
Decided to bail on seeing matinee of Tootsie today, and got ticket to see MR again today. If you check Ticketmaster day of, they reduce prices. Also single seats can be $100 less than seats in same row. This second ticket is only $35 more for center orchestra than what I paid back in June to secure a seat in row P near the top of the Mezzanine.
Will likely pick up Tootsie ticket at will-call about 12:30- 1ish and give to 1st person looking for a seat. It is an aisle seat rear orch.
Update: no one wants to see Tootsie, or are in groups. Left with a girl working at the TKTS sign
The Satine standby, Ashley Loren, always gives pretty good notice on her IG story when she will be on in the role if it's a date known in advance. Lately it has seemed like she has gone on a LOT but it might be due to the above mentioned Tuesday nights that Karen no longer does.

If I remember correctly, she was out sick for almost a week sometime in November and has been out on other random nights. It could be she takes Tuesday as an additional day to rest. There was no announcement as to why she was decreasing the number of shows.
Of the principal cast, only Aaron, Tam, and Ricky have been in every show. Danny is out for surgery. Sahr (sp) is put somewhat frequently as well. I’m a little surprised Aaron hasn’t taken off - he has a pretty lift when it comes to the number of songs he sings.
Karen has a pretty poor attendance record in both in In The Heights and West Side Story. Maybe she needs that extra day to remain healthy and strong for this role. However, both her understudies are excellent.

Aaron Tveit sings in more than a dozen of the songs in ''Moulin Rouge!'' and has the heaviest load, vocally. He not only tackles each tune whole-heartedly with power and passion, but as far as I know, he's yet to miss a performance, which is truly Herculean.
''Moulin Rouge!'' really is a demanding sing, especially with all that pop belting; they ought to have alternates do the matinees, but I'd hate to miss Karen or Aaron. They make such a dynamic duo..

I just got invited to see the show tomorrow night. Tuesday. Guess I will not get to see Karen.
