Just wondering how many auditions one would say a Broadway actor does per year. Sorry if this is a strange question.

Thanks!

Most will do as many as possible, never want to wait until a closing notice goes up. Or finally getting out pf the ensemble.

Of course non working actors should be hustlng, but the truth of the matter is that they all do. Voiceovers, student workshops....anything and everything.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

It depends, of course, on how many of those auditions are successful, since it's hard to audition while you're in rehearsal/performances (although it can be done), but I would say somewhere in the ballpark of 75-100.  That works out to about twice a week, which I would say averages out because sometimes it might be three one week, but only one the following week.

Everyone is different so of course there is no "typical" (maybe it's a holiday week and there are very few auditions, maybe there's nothing right for them that week, maybe they need extra money from their day job and don't have time to audition, etc.), but I would say that's a starting point for a relatively unknown, semi-working, still-hustling actor in NY.

It REALLY varies depending on too many factors to even mention, even for the same actor year-to-year. Some actors can go on five auditions in a year; some can go on five in a DAY. There is no answer to this questions, though DooWahDiddy’s guesstimation is fairly accurate for an actor who has not been on Broadway but hustles to get seen and has connections and/or a union affiliation to get in the room.

Even working actors on Broadway can have two to three auditions a week. I have a friend in a hit Broadway musical who is always auditioning for things and has participated in workshops,  all while cast in a show.  It's not just  unknown,  semi-working, still- hustling actors who audition.

I... I know?  I'm not sure how you took that from what I wrote.  I was saying "here's the example I'm giving you, for this kind of actor".  I wasn't saying it was like that for all actors, in all stages of their careers, or I would have, you know, said that instead.
