I did a search and couldn't find a thread about this, except for one asking about when tickets go onsale. I figured the show deserves a dedicated thread.

This is absolutely one of my most anticipated shows of the season, and I've been waiting on the edge for my seat for additional news since the initial press release. There hasn't been any official announcement of the dates, or which characters Oscar Isaac and Greta Gerwig will be playing.

HOWEVER,

I did some digging and I found this casting call listing from way back in September. The casting call reveals that the performances are (or at least were) scheduled to begin on May 13th, 2019. It also reveals that the roles of Vershinin and Masha are already cast, presumably with Isaac and Gerwig.

Both actors fit well in those respective roles, I think. It's interesting though because Three Sisters isn't a play that lends itself particularly well to star casting. Vershinin is a decent standout role, and much of the plot revolves around him. But it's not a massive part, at least in the versions I've seen. Same goes for Masha, who IMO is probably the least interesting of the sisters, though still a good role.

I'm very curious to see if they end up casting big stars as Irina and Olga. It seems like it might unbalance the production to star-cast Masha and not the other 2 sisters. If any of the sisters call for star casting, it's probably Irina, but Gerwig is a bit too old for Irina.

Has anyone heard any casting rumors, or have thoughts on who should play Irina and Olga? Given the Gerwig connection, I'd love to see Saoirse Ronan play Irina!

Cast and creatives announced!! Looks very exciting. Bernstine will kill it as Olga.

Incredible to think that we're going to have Oscar Isaac, Greta Gerwig, and Steve Buschemi performing in the same intimate Off-Broadway theater.

This has to be one of the strongest-on-paper casts in recent memory.

Personally, I think I'm most thrilled by Emily Davis, who was so brilliant in IS THIS A ROOM.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Interesting that the first 2 previews will be lottery in addition to the daily lottery. Is that because of anticipated demand?

Presumably, yes. (not unlike what the Public did for Hercules).

Personally, I was very irritated when I read that. Being forced to rely on the whims of a popular lottery is almost the same as not being able to get cheap tickets at all, from a statistical standpoint. But I'll find a way in, so help me! No way I'm missing this.

I didn't notice Emily Davis' name on the list at first, but count me in as excited as well! Her performance in Is This a Room was one of my favorite performances of the season so far.

I've been looking for something to do the Sunday evening of our trip in May.  Definitely going to try for this!

Dang. This is going to be a hot ticket. Looks like I’m going to be entering the lottery a lot.

First two rows of seating will be cushions on the floor. I ache just thinking about it.

Many of their shows reach BWAY- so I will what- it is going to be insanely expensive- on StubHub probably to score a ticket. Have followed Greta's indie movie career for a long time- love her- and Isaac- ever since the movie The Promise- is wonderful. Really looking forward to seeing it some time.

Oh man. I already have anxiety about getting a ticket for this. I checked on TodayTix yesterday and didn't find the CheapTix thing, but I'm guessing it will come up in the next few weeks?

That’s one of the most stacked casts in recent memory. After the amateurish and disappointing Moscow Moscow... it’ll be nice to have the real thing. Anybody know the onsale date?

Don't get your hopes too high about the "real thing," as you call it. Sam Gold is not exactly known for his reverence toward the classics (I say that as a compliment to him, but you might see it as a negative)

JBroadway: Fair enough (god know his King Lear was an embarrassing mess) but I really liked Gold's Uncle Vanya and Clare Barron is a great new playwright, so I'm optimistic for the moment.

Does anybody know when they would release the tickets to the general public?  I don’t see anything from the site.

And I too am so excited to see Emily Davis again - her performance for Is This A Room is still the best so far this season.

Online sales begin April 1 at noon. Beginning March 23 you can enter a lottery at Today Tix for $25 seats to the first 2 performances, May 13 and 14.

These seem to be reasonable prices. Are you able to see what's the running time of the play and if there are any mid-week matinees? Thank you!

NYTW FAQs give the price range as $50-$125, and only show weekend matinees.

NYTW is not listed on Stubhub and their FAQ says:

All tickets are held at the box office and are available for pickup beginning two hours prior to your ticketed performance. A photo ID matching the name on the tickets is required for pickup. For your safety and ours, we are unable to make exceptions to this policy.

So your challenge will be to get through the online rush on April 1 :).

I called the box office to ask about the "unique layout of the theatre" that's mentioned on the website, and it's going to be 5 rows in the round, with, as was mentioned before, the first 2 rows being cushions on the floor.
