So, apparently on The View today, Ruben & Clay announced (to Meghan McCains delight) that there are plans to bring back their Christmas show to Broadway (or tour) next year.

Wasnt this a massively hot mess last year? Discuss.

I'm sure it would do just fine as a tour (one nighters in the less "sophisticated" markets?

Production value wise I thought it was nicely done, but yeah, I mean, it's not really a Broadway thing. But if it was doing one-nighters and touring around to suburban areas, I could see it doing well.

The show lost a colossal amount of money last year in New York, to the point of stiffing the employees on their last week of pay.

Not only was it a mess, it was a mess that grossed no higher than $163,429 weekly in its run, didn't fill more than half the theater, and had an average ticket of $36. Its total gross for the entire run was substantially less than half of one week's gross potential.

A short, even more pared-down tour to small venues in smaller cities is probably the only feasible way this thing could come back.

Lol this was so bad I was literally handed a free ticket by the box office. No way this comes back unless they want to lose even more money!

To me, it sounded like there is really nothing planned, and they just gave some answers to placate the overly excited Meghan. That said, they sounded great on The View, maybe they should just stick to the singing and leave out the schtick.

I worked it on Christmas Day last year. Dear god was it bad. Next to the sound booth was a guy with the script and a mic. It turned out he was feeding Ruben his lines.

Now I'm angry at myself for going to church instead. I was on the fence right up to the last minute.

Yes it was. Clay knew his lines but clearly Ruben didn’t. That said it was scripted and the acting (if you can call it that) was ****e from everyone involved
