I went in bracing myself for something cheery and overly whimsical, and what I got was a sobering, very thoughtful and beautifully made film. Hanks doesn't physically resemble Mr. Rogers, but he captures his watchful, curious, and generous presence. One of my favorites of the year, certainly one of the biggest surprises.
Loved it. Made me cry. Several times. Was never a fan of the tv show but the screenplay and the acting in this movie were amazing. Glad to see “Kevin” from “Brothers and Sisters” and a wonderful job on his part. Spoiler alert:*****. He never really said he forgave his father but it showed in his future actions. Thoughts on this? At first it bugged me that he didn’t say “yes” when his father asked if he would forgive him.
