I was wondering how many robes are there at one time. I had noticed the lastesr one didnt seem to have at the most recent shows and some had been from a season before.
Also where do these robes go when they are filled.
Thanks

They issue a new (blank) robe when the current one is "full".  I have no idea who determines that.

And from Wikipedia:   Retired robes are kept at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, at the Smithsonian, and at Actors' Equity.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Speaking of the robe. Last night at Jagged Little Pill the winner has only 3 shows to her credit. Is that the lowest number? Usually they have like 6-10 shows under their belt

There is no "usually."

yes it’s usually a bigger number but in this case the person in the ensemble with the most show credits was 3

Looking at the cast pics on the JLP website, most all of the actors are (or look) young. So, not surprising to me that the recipient has only 3 shows.

How does AEA handle it when there is a tie in the number of shows? Are there co-recipients or is some criteria used as to who receives it? I didn't see a rule on the Wikipedia page.

13 of them made their Broadway debuts. Laurel Harris was in 3 shows prior but she was standby in 2 of them.

If there is a tie the Legacy Robe recipient from the previous show, who will pass on the robe, chooses amongst the qualifying cast members.

Did Lightning Thief do this? They only had one cast member with a previous Broadway credit and he only had one previous credit.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

He is also lead so probably not as it goes to the ensemble member with the most shows.

Indeed it only goes to ensemble contracted performers so if they are only principle contracts, I am fairly certain that the show does not do the ceremony. I recall this happening at some point in pretty recent memory but for the life of me I can't recall what the show was. Someone please tell me if I am just imagining this was a thing but if I recall one of the cast members posting on social media about everyone being on principle contracts and so the current gypsy robe holder visited the show and blessed the production with the traditional visiting of the dressing rooms and such. This is gonna drive me mad now trying to recall what show I am thinking of. It was within the last 2 seasons.

You may be thinking the DAMES AT SEA from a few years back where I believe all six actors had principle contracts. I thought I saw Lesli Margherita mention this in a video.

I think they’re also all on principal contracts at Evan Hansen as well

I'm pretty sure that The Band's Visit also didn't have anyone on chorus contracts, as I seem to recall that there was no Robe Ceremony for their opening either.
